Melbourne GTG?

Hey Aussie Spurs fans, I'm going to be in Melbourne, maybe for game 1 and definitely for game 2 )and maybe game 3), so would any of you like to watch it together?

I'm guessing it would be on at the Crown sportsbook, although if any of you cab suggest a better place (a sportsbar with ESPN, someone who has ESPN on Foxtel?) I'm open to all suggestions.

Can anyone tell me what time finals games will be on? Is it 3pm ET or will they be night games? 3pm ET translates to 5am here, 8pm ET to 10am here.

Would be nice to meet some of you guys as many of us Aussies have been on SR and then Spurstalk for, what, 7 years now, and I've never met any of you!? It's about time. :)

Hey I'm in Melbourne.. well out in the eastern suburbs anyway and great idea as well.

Problem for me is the gametime always falls middle of the day and there all on weekdays which means I'm working :/

but to tell you the truth i got exams for these two weeks so i cant join yah....

theres a place in the city that shows it.....it use to be a tab pokies joint, still is but it rename itself...they show games, but you cant go celebrate and make a fuss inside = lame

you can try kickz101 store in the city, i dunno if they show games or not....

telstra main office building on the corner of lonsdale st and exhibition st i think towards spring st, you cant miss it, its the building with 2 statues outside next to a bus stop....and its in the lobby area with alot of ppl comin in and out, and it be weird just to make yourself at home watchin there....:(:(

the lone ranger i think is a TAB pokies joint, on bourke street before russell street, shows live games...24hr joint.

theres another TAB joint on the corner of swanston street and bourke street across the road from starbucks...upstairs they show live games also....(but i dunno)

then there is crown...but crown is a biatch though, volume not loud enough.

Best place is try the TAB joints in the city....seems like most have plasmas and show games...

Okay, so I'm going to stay home and watch game 1 here and then drive to Melbourne afterwards. The games I'll be in Melb for will be on at:

gm 2 - 11am Monday
gm 3 - 11am Wednesday

I'll check out some prospective places to watch them and post back here on the weekend. Note that Monday is the Queen's Birthday, so we should have a GTG for that one. Are there any sportsbars where we could get a booth with our own TV? I'd rather do that than sit in a dodgy pokie joint with a bunch of old alkies, if it can be avoided. :lol

G'day gents. I'm in the middle of starting a new job so I can't really take days off just yet but I do have Fridays off so I might be a go for Game 4 if we get anything going for that.

I have an exam the day after the Queens Birthday too so that puts me under pressure there.

The games are usually in the middle of the day. I work in the city and I plan to take mini sick leaves to watch the game at Crown. I'll be more than happy to catch up with you on Wednesday to watch the game 3. I think there are a few sports pubs down here that will televising the game... otherwise... not much else available... I've got foxtel but I live in the eastern suburbs...

Bummer mattyc. I finish all my assessment this week, so it's ideal timing for me. Work hard until Sunday and post again if you change your mind.

I will scout locations on Saturday and post again about this on Sunday arvo our time. If everything goes to hell and I can't find anywhere better, look for the 6'7" guy in the Spurs gear in the Crown sportsbook.

No FoxTel here.. but you can watch using internet sopcast... the telecast is a bit dodgy.

Anyway.. Monday should be fine.. Just pick the time and place

I've got myself a pretty good spot for the finals, a mate just got Foxtel IQ so we will probably start watching the game 30mins after it actually starts, that way we can fast forward those horrible ESPN ads... should be good :D

the crown place, in the main gambling area where the big 3 screens are.....low volume, and you probably expect to see alot of fellas there to catch the game, its always pack during ASG....and cricket tourneys...

about the TAB joints, screens are not inside the gambline area, they have a another section for diners and AA :D:D

Sat I'll check out a venue for Monday, then Cattaneo, Sunday my uncle's 70th on the tram resteraunt, Monday more NBA... and in between all that i have family and friends to see! Gonna be busy! Gonna love it! No more essays about climate change! Yay! :D :lol

They always replay the game.. One in the morning and one in the evening.

If the evening slots are packed, they will replay in the weekends..

you cant reserve seats in that area....first come first serve, you can always go 2nd lvl where theres more chaires, but expect alot of old farts and losers sobering next to you.....or you can always try the sports bar on the second lvl next to village cinemas...expensive though for food and shit...

oh yeh forgot to tell you guys...if you are crown member :D, teh food are cheap on 2nd lvl in the gaming area in front of the big screens, chicken and chips 2-3bucks only during weekdays...weekends more expensive....

Hey, it's on ABC - does that mean we get it on ESPN or Foxsports here? Is it delayed? I have tried to look on the Foxtel TV Guide site but the page never bloody works. Anyone know exact details of what channel and when game 1 is on?

Are you from Perth? I was there in 95 while serving in the Navy and had a great time. We docked in Fremantle and took a train to Perth. Later during the deployment we swung around to Sydney. One of the things that really stuck with me was going to Hungry Jacks. It was a replica of Burger King just had the different name. Anyway just wanted to know if you were from there.

Okay, have a bit more time to post now.

I finished off my undergrad degree last year in Health Promotion @ Deakin and have been job searching since. It's a pretty limited field in which only 5% of the Federal Health budget addresses health promotion. All in all, I'd been for about 5 interviews and felt my confidence rise with each one. One day I got a call back from an organisation I applied for but was knocked back - however, they'd called me as they had another position which they felt more suitable for my qualifications - went in for an interview and bang, I got it. So my start date is smack-bang in the middle of the Finals. Hard to do anything about that I guess. The Spurs are my passion but prioritizing the job is crucial I guess.

Also, I'm doing a Graduate Certificate through external study in which the exam is also smack bang in the middle of the Finals. Doesn't help!

With a few other things on my plate, my posting has been somewhat limited but don't worry, I'm still reading. This doesn't give me many options regarding a GTG but I'll be watching the replays if I have to.

Game 1 I won't be there, so I'll leave it to others.

Game 2 on Monday, Crown is the DEFAULT if I don't post again here, although I will still look around on Saturday for somewhere better and post on Sunday about that. I'm 6'7" with glasses and Spurs gear on, so you can't really miss me... ;)

Okay, firstly, apologies from me because I WON'T be able to make the game on Monday (family commitments! ugh), but I suggest that you go to Crown 1/2 hour early and get a seat UPSTAIRS. You might miss the commentary, but the screen is great.

If you want to go to a TAB joint, Lone Ranger or Black Opal both show the games - looked on Google maps but they aren't there, so ask Melbournites for directions.

I am up for Wednesday's game at anywhere you guys choose. You'll have to decide on the Monday venue, so one of you should take the lead.
