If the Spurs were to lose.
Would it be the biggest choke job in history?
Would it knock of the luster of 3 rings?
Would you think of this team differently?
I for one would never think of the team the same. There is no reason why this team shouldn't win. It's there for the taking.

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
if we do lose, it will be because of LeBron. His coming out party.

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
It would take a Herculean effort on the glass by the Cleveland frontcourt for that to happen.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
TRU spurs fans don't say choke. The choking days are over. If we lose it will be because in today's nba one amazing player can beat one amazing team.

I don't care how good Lebron is, there is no way one guy can beat the Spurs. There is no way one guy should be able to beat a great team. Jordan could never do it by himself, it took other good to great players to get over the great teams like the Celtics and Pistons.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
Spurs would not be considered a dynasty. and we would be no better than Pistons, which are in a sad state right now

The Spurs legacy is at stake!!!!

You can't look at it that way my friend! CORSO says CORSO needs to make a reappearance CORSOOOO
because you can't talk shit like that unless you wanna get scarfed
"knock the luster off the 3 rings??" you are mad.
This team has proven itself already. We have made it out of the west which is indisputably the better conference. We had one of the best records in the league. This team will not choke. If we lose, it will be because, given the way the game is called today, one man with amazing off the wall talents can overcome a cohesive veteran team with full confidence and a future HOF big man.
End of story.
This team will play its best and win or lose we best better be damned proud of them. Looking at shit the way you are is unhealthy. Just be proud and happy that our team is the western conference KING and is 4 games away from holding another NBA title.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
I will always love my Spurs but i would be Crushed because this title will be the 4th in 9 years and force even those that hate them to put them up there with some of the great teams of all time. Duncan same thing he gets his 4th title and even those that hate him have no choice but to elevate him to true immortal status. I will be ok but this is a huge one and the Spurs needs to get it done.

When in the history of the NBA has one player been able to do that? Are you saying Lebron is better than MJ? Or would it be the Spurs aren't as good as we all thought?
The Spurs should wipe the floor with Lebron and the Cavs, and if they don't, it will be a Dallas sized choke job.

Anything can happen. Never say never. But no matter, yes, be proud of this team and what it has meant to this city for the past 10 years.
And it could never take the luster off of the three trophys they have already brought us.

Sounds like you're satisfied and getting prepared for a defeat. I say the failure of losing this one would surpass any joy I ever had in winning. This would be the biggest choke job in history and I would be embarrassed.

LOL. Just exactly what would you have to be embarrassed about? Are you suiting up?
I have every confidence the Spurs will win this. I'm just pointing out that nothing is ever a 100 percent certainty. If it was, there would be no reaso to play the games.

What? Bad performance doesn't time travel. Crappin out now doesn't turn good performances of the past into dog shit. Does Kobe's Cybil attention whore act take the "luster" off of Magic's rings? WTF?
Would you think of this team differently?
Yes, in that my thoughts on them are constantly evolving. Heck, in Jan I didn;t think we would make it past the WCF.. so there you are. But my fanage will always remain intact.

MJ did not play in today's NBA, and (i'm trying my best not to sound biased and trollish) today's nba is prone to allowing single perimeter players dominate long stretches of games more than MJ's nba; you know that so what are you trying to get at here???????

If the Spurs were to go up 2-0 or 3-1 and LOSE... now THAT would be a choke job. Well, I doubt THAT'LL happen!

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
Greatest choke jobs by sport
Hockey: who watches hockey?
Football: 1993 Bills-Oilers Playoff game: Oilers blow 32 point half time lead.
Basketball: 1994 Sonics-Nuggets playoff: the Sonices with 63 wins faced the 42 win Nuggets and lose.
Baseball: 2004 Red Sox-Yankees ALCS: the greatest choke job in the history of professional sports saw the Yankees up 3-0 with a lead in the ninth inning of game 4 only to lose to Boston 4 games in a row.
Unless the Spurs go up 3-0 and lose it wouldnt hold a candle to any of these.

As a Yankee fan that one hurt the most but it was a fluke that they got up 3-0 those teams were very evenly matched, the Sox just played 3 shitty games in a row. Once they won the next 2 it seemed to get in the Yankees heads about the idea of the curse being broken by them collapsing like they did and the rest was history.

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
LOSIN 4 straight is a choke job, something dallas fans know about and can not complain

As a Red sox fan since 83 it was wonderful redemption from all the shit i took and bets i lost.

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
Not gonna happen. I've got $$$ on this thing.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
I just can't see it happening. Unless LeBron had magical powers where he literally could not miss a shot no matter how many players were guarding him, they can't stop us.

Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
to be honest i would not be so sad...we are truly about to witness a beast in lebron james...and come to think of it we all kno the cavs are the spurs of the east..i dont thik the media does a good job about airing that out and bringing that up..we tend to struggle agianst our kenfolk

I'm a huge spurs fan and in no way do I think they're soft or chokers. As a matter of fact, I think they are one of the best teams ever. I'm a homer to the nth degree, so that's why I can say the if the spurs lose everything else should be thrown out the window because there's almost no chance of that happening.
However, if it did happen somehow that would mean I'm 100% wrong about this team. Being the Ego Maniac I am (not really), there's no way in hell I'm wrong.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
I don't think they'll lose, but I'm a Spurs fan through it all, win or lose.
I'm excited about this one because I want to see Duncan CEMENT his place in the record books.
Four Championships.
Four Final's MVP's.
Spurs in 6.
Duncan MVP.
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
it all depends on how they lost
the three championships will never lose their luster. the memories are still strong in my mind
-
Re: If the Spurs were to lose.
I can't wait until thursday. this wait is killing me. I'm trying but I don't see any way of how Cavs could win one in San Antonio.

Don't kid yourself man, it can happen. DumbWade did it several times last year. And if you believe that the Refs/League won't help LeBron a little you are kidding yourself there as well.
I'm not saying it will, but it can. Ask Detroit what happen in game 5.....

I'm really getting sick of this analogy.
For the record, the Spurs are not the Mavs; and this years Pistons were crap. I was actually hoping the Pistons would win, because Spurs would have an even easier time than against the Cavs.
I expect Lebron to win a couple of games, that's why I picked Spurs in 6. But no way do the Spurs lose, unless another Cav player starts scoring over 20 points a game.

If the Spurs lose it'll be because someone BESIDES Lebron had an amazing series.
Lebron will get his, just like all the other stars do agains the Spurs, it's just a matter of whether the Spurs make him do it himself of if they let the others chip in.

As a Spurs fan I've seen some of the most horrid lopsided officiating. When the Spurs used to play the Lakers it was literally 8 on 5. Game 3 & 4 against the Mavs last year I totally feel like the spurs were robbed.
NEVERTHELESS, The Officiating didn't decide those series. The better teams won.
THE SPURS BY a Long Shot are the better team!!! The only way they could lose is to CHOKE Dallas style, no offense.

Don't be surprised to see the Cavs win game 1. Spurs typically SUCK after long layoffs. If the Spurs win game 1, they should handle the series pretty easily.

I'll be disappointed if the Spurs win by less than 15 with all kidding aside.
