The nat'l media just hates him. Who all votes on it? Its only 10-15 votes, right?
Right now its between Tim and Bruce and if you would have listened to Tim's post game, you would have given it to Bruce right there.

I would like that but there is not a chance in hell.
Hmmm . . . no.
As big as he has come up, and as much as I like him, No, not a chance in hell
If he scores 72 points and fouls out Lebron in 12 minutes of Game 4, all while changing the diaper on his newborn, he has a .0001% chance of being named MVP.
Bruce has done a hell of a job, but I think the way they see it, is:
A: It's nothing special. He does it to every star in the league.
B: He was surely getting away with some sly moves that is helping him.
C: It's Bruce Bowen for Gods sake. Can't have the talk about a dirty player winning MVP.
D: Pretty much set in stone. Spurs win finals....Tim wins MVP.
Now all that being said, Bruce provided one hell of a game last night. Without the offense he provided last night, we are at 2 - 1 and facing a confident Cleveland team on their court for 2 more.
It was one ugly game to watch. But damn I'm glad the Spurs eked one out.
Actually I don't care. While we win game and ring 4 they can even give the MVP to Lebron if it can please the media.
I still think its Tonys MVP to lose. If he is the leading scorer again in game 4 and we win.....the award is his. IMHO
wow, wouldn't that be a slap in the face to carmela, iverson, nash, marion, bron bron; it would be pure poetic justice for bruce to get mvp, I'm still going with timmy though. He's also the reason that bruce can do what he does because he anchors the defense when a player manages to get by the first line of defense.
If he stops LeBron on 0/22 shooting, and scores 40 points than he's the MVP.
Can he? No. He's not going to get the votes.
Should he? That's debatable but I would be happy to see him win it. He deserves a crowning achievement.
the way all the media (that i've heard) its tony's already...
Bruce deservedly deserves Co mvp with timmy!!!
Lebron is shooting 37%. He has 18 of his 64 points from the line. He's averaging 15.3 ppg from the floor in this series -- if you take away the two uncontested 3 pointers he hit in the 4th quarter of Game 1, that number falls to 13.3 ppg from the field. I don't think that anyone believed, before this series started, that those numbers for The King would be remotely possible. Bruce Bowen has had some help to be sure, but he's carried the burden of defending James and has done a remarkable job of it.
He won't be Finals MVP -- that's going to be Parker, mostly because I can't imagine that the national media is creative enough to recognize someone who doesn't have offensive numbers for an award like that. But Bruce has certainly enhanced his place in Spurs lore with this effort.
Not only has Bruce held Lebron 10 ppg under his playoff average, but he has helped cause nearly twice as many turnovers (5.7 vs 3.1 playoff average). :clapQuote:

I don't understand why everyone thinks Tim is the front runner for MVP. Clearly Parker has set the pace and been unstoppable up until Game 3 and he still led the team in scoring.
If Bowen didn't win the DPoY for his defensive work, and Nash won regular season MVPs without playing a lick of defense, there is ZERO chance he would get Finals MVP for his work on Lebron. The only players to ever win ANY MVP based on defense is Russell and Unseld, everybody else won because of his offense.
That being said, he SHOULD be considered, but Parker will win this finals MVP, no doubts about it.
MVP is most certainly headed to France, no way Tim nor Bruce win it if San Antonio closes out the Cavs on Thursday or Sunday.
i would love for Bruce to win it, but in kinda of a weird way that would make Lebron's ego EVEN BIGGER.
if we win it, i think it's between Tony and Tim.
Co-MVPs = Tony and Tim.
Sorry, Bruce. Defense doesn't win MVPs, or else Ben Wallace would have won in 2004, right?
Never had Co-MVPs, but I think it would be appropriate this year between Timmy and Tony.
I did, and I mentioned it before the Detroit series was even over. I said this right after that Lebron 48 point game. :kingQuote:
