Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
This shit piss me off way more than a Kobe type situation. Kobe has been in the league and somewhat has paid his dues. It's not necessarily right to demand a trade, but at least he has played for a while.
This cocksucker has barely set foot in the USA and thinks he runs this motherfucker.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Scola his ass for a few years, then trade him. Nobody should ever reward these guys by giving them what they want. I know it's his kung-fu crew that's running things, but they should know better. Fuck'em.

Wow, what a bunch of idiots and playerhaters on this thread.
We see the racists and the children come out of the woodwork here. And I think "Commie" as an epithet is pathetic--as if he chose the political system of his country of birth. This power play is not communistic at all, but actually fully capitalist and free-market in nature. Of course that will fly over most of your heads.
Do you really think this 20 year old is calling the shots here? His agent made it very clear he wanted to play in a city with an Asian presence. And, the playerhaters don't like it, but extremely talented players can force a team's hand. I don't recall people talking sh_t about John Elway anymore. I may be wrong, but didn't Danny Ainge even do the same thing?
I suppose most of the racists and p'haters shouting him down, would gladly play in the miserable depths of the Midwest when it was within their power to force a trade to Boston or LA.

I would like to think that most of the posters are bitching about an 19 year old unproven commodity from the lower-echelon Chinese Basketball Association being fortunate enough to be a lottery pick in the top basketball league in the world, and then complaining that he was picked by Milwaukee.
Elway went #1 in his draft, not #6. And comparing these two situations is an act in futility. The schizophrenic Colts and their asshat of an owner moved to Indianapolis in the dead of night less than a year after Elway was drafted. The Bucks are a proud franchise with deep civic roots owned by a U.S. Senator.
Milwaukee was good enough for Lew Alcindor when he was the most celebrated draft choice of his era. It's damn good enough for this kid.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
I'm surprised the Atlanta coaching staff beat out the chinese ownership on their draft pick. The owners wanted yi jianlian. I am personally concerned if teams are going to be baught by groups outside of the US and demand their players be part of the team. I mean what else is going to be outsourced. Let players be picked on merit and not forced on a team no matter what their nationality is.

Kobe was drafted by the Hornets and immediately demanded a trade to a big market city.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Guys, stop blaming Yi. Yi is fine in Milwaukee and said hed play (obviously tho, he probly didn't know "Milwaukee" existed before this month.) Its Yi's reps/Chinese basketball that's making the big stink about Yi not going there. This isnt quite Kobe or Franchise 2.0

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Yi and his people made it clear that he didn't want to play in Milwaukee. I don't like it, just like I didn't like it when Francis and Manning and Drew pulled that shit, but it is what it is. Milwaukee saw this coming and clearly they still felt this was the best thing to do.
The only person this hurts is Yi.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Francis fucked up Vancouver. He is one reason why the team left from here. Had he played, they could have won more games.
All we needed was to trade for his lover Mobley.
-
Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Eric Lindros pulled the same shit back in the day, refusing to play for Quebec. Philly traded for him, about half dozen players, one of them being Peter Foresberg.
-
Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Bucks could have drafted Brewer. Brewer/Charlie combo would have been awesome. If not that, they could have traded one of them a better center.
-
Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
The Bucks are probably going to get a large cash reward from the Chinese government to trade this dude. I think Stern will step in before that, though. Time will tell if this is a smart move.
I'm not sure why the government of China cares how many Chinese live in the local market, as the average person in China doesn't care about the difference between Milwaukee and St. Louis.
