Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Meh, Vancouver fucked itself up.... They knew Francis didn't want to play there and they drafted him anyway. Then they traded him for dogshit when they had dogshit to begin with.
Hopefully Milwaukee has a better plan, but they certainly have better players to fall back on.
I'm all for teams calling the bluff of a cocky punk who gets picky about which NBA team pays him multimillions of dollars, but for the teams' sake it's good to have a plan.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Yea Vancouver was fucked up the day they put Stu in charge. He drafted some of the worst players possible.
Interesting to see what happens with Yi, or E. Let him be in China? trade for future firstround pick? get back an allstar?

I fucking hate attitudes like this. The most notable douchebag that I can think of that pulled this was Kobe. Who else has pulled this bullshit with success in the past?
Steve Francis
John Elway
Danny Ferry

If they know Atlanta loves him so much, they could turn him around for a package including Josh Smith, or Josh Childress or of somesort.

JD Drew in a way successfully did it. Rooting for him in the little time he was with the Cardinals, or what little time he played seeing as he was Paino Udrih's long lost american 2nd cousin.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
T Parker, I like the word "playerhater". It concisely describes the motives of those who attack out of pure jealousy and impotence. Few people on this board are in Milwaukee, and no Spur fan is adversely hurt by a player putting his chips on table and trying to win a hand. Thus this inchoate rage at his trying to get ahead can only be accounted for by jealousy.
Also, I sadly have much less hops than when I was 15, T Parker. Please explain to me how your invective against Communism can be squared with your contempt for Yi excercising his rights in the free market. I don't get it, but I'm sure you have strong logic behind your strong words.
As far as the reverse racism, I like French fries and wine and have no beef with Frogs such as yourself :)
It always puzzles me when fans take the side of fat, old, multi-billionaire Enron-ish owners than guys who must rely on their legs to make a living, guys who we love, and love to watch. If I were in the NBA, I would be great to my fans, a great team player, but if necessary, give the Chinese finger to the owners, Yi-style!

NorCal was banned for just one day by LJ yesterday.

Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
Why is everyone surprised that a foreign born player is using American tactics to get what he wants?
-
Re: Yi Jianlian will demand a trade ala Francis
A lot of people aren't getting it in this thread that it's not young Yi's decision to say he won't play in Milwaukee and wants traded. Prior to the draft the Chinese government already said which teams he was going to be allowed to play for. That's why "his people" didn't allow teams like Milwaukee to be present at the some of the workouts etc. And it's why some teams weren't targeting him - they weren't on the short list of cities. Milwaukee knew that this might happen and they drafted him anyway.
The comments here cussing him (the player) out and telling him to go back to China are obnoxious as hell. You guys act like this kid is dictating what's happening.

We may not be hurt, but its a pathetic showing from a guy who is recieving a priveledge, NOT A RIGHT, in playing in the NBA. To say ""Im not going to Milwaukee" is complete bullshit.
The NBA draft is not a free market. You get drafted, you should be LUCKY to be drafted. You act like getting drafted is some sort of GIVEN.
Also the thing about me not liking the french would be wrong, one of my favorite players is from the Spurs, another plays for the lakers. I have nothing against the french other than their stupidity when it comes to world relations.
And uh, the whole BS about enronish owners?
I see you have the typical "They are out to get us" mantra.
"Fight the man" :rolleyes
