Guess Presti's prodigy Karaulov (sp?) is history.
Roster basically breaks down like this:
Point Guards
Cheyne Gadson
Charles Lee
C.J. Watson
Shooting Guards
Marcus Williams
Anthony Roberson
Keith Langford
Small Forwards
James White
Rich Melzer
Viktor Sanikidze
Marcellus Sommerville
Short Power Forwards
Donnell Harvey
Regis Koundjia
Darryl Hardy
Frederic Adjiwanou
Centers
Jackie Butler
Matt Haryasz
I'm guessing Lee is going to be in the point guard mix. He's more of a shooting guard but he can run the show decently.
Roberson is the best scorer on the team. But hopefully Williams gets more playing time.
The small forward position is overly stacked. White, Melzer and Sanikidze is summer league overload. Maybe Melzer or Sanikidze will play some power forward.
The Spurs went with some tiny power forwards. None of them taller than 6-foot-8. Was that by design? Probably not.
I do like how this team seems like it will feature Butler. He's literally the only post player on the team. It looks like he's going to a get a huge amount of touches.
Too bad Ian is hurt he could played aside Butler down low along with White, Williams at the wings to give a look of some future Spurs all playing together.
I doubt anyone on the roster outside of White, Williams and Butler have a shot to make the roster. Even if the Spurs open up a roster spot, Mahinmi is probably next in line. If the Spurs open up two roster spots, I guess a guy like Gadson can be in the mix.Quote:

I see the Spurs aren't playing the Blazers or Sonics...
Any other big names out there?
Off the top of my head I've got...
Big Baby Davis
Gabe Pruitt
Derrick Byars
Jason Smith
Andris Biedrins (?)
Monta Ellis (?)
Brandan Wright
Feel free to add on or tell me if the guys listed above are even going...
It's do or die time for the kid. I really hope he realizes what an opportunity to show off his stuff this is. If he plays hard then he'll have a good summer league.Quote:

We have some good prospects. Hopefully our Austin scouts are watching...because thats likely where most of these guys will be headed.
I thought he was hurt...hence his free fall in the draft.Quote:

I remember his big moment with the Spurs was a game against the Pistons in TD rookie year, when he steal the ball and mede a J to put us ahed with some seconds to go.
We won that game
I'm guessing it's a good sign then that I've never heard of him before. :smokinQuote:

Do you think if one of those PGs do well the Spurs can waive Beno and sign that guy?
Reggie Geary was an awesome defensive point guard. Problem is his offense was horrible. He always seemed like he'd make a good coach, though. Good to see the Spurs giving him a shot to perhaps break into the NBA level of coaching.Quote:

That is definitely the better option than simply waiving him. And frankly, I'm ready for life after Beno.Quote:

He entered the draft in 1997. That's about all I can find on the guy.
Could the Spurs be using this league to both test small-ball plays to try in the big leagues and look for a real SF or SF/PF tweener.Quote:

If that is how the matchups go, we are going to see what Viktor is made of. Those are some real talents...Quote:
