That sucks. Do you know if he's gonna go NBADL or to Europe?
He doesn't want to go to Europe. He will probably go to DLeague. He has a few other NBA teams that were interested in him (before he spent the last two months with the Cavs). So we'll see if any of them have space for him.
Does this have anything with Anderson coming back?
Sorry Kori.
I know it has to be frustrating for you to see him cut.
Bah.
I have been crying for like 2 hours :lolQuote:

It's got to be harder than I can imagine to actually get a job on an NBA team.
There's a lot of talent and only so many spots.
That sucks, but I get the feeling his stay in the D-League will be like Andre Brown's -- dominant and brief.
In Anaheim, right?
It's not set in stone to be in Anaheim yet, but they were discussing that possibility last week. He's been in Cleveland for 50 days, so he's going to go home to Cali tonight and then figure it out.Quote:

Geez. Pavlovic should just sign a deal in Europe now.Quote:

Kori,
Felix's story might actually have the makings of a book or article in SI or ESPN Magazine. There are so many guys out there that are talented but don't really make the NBA but end up playing in Europe or somewhere overseas only to come back and try to make the NBA again. Someone with some writing skills could put together a nice piece about the guy. *hint hint*
Sorry to hear...
It's tough when it's personal. :cry
Sorry, but who is Noel?
He's one of my closest friends. That's why I said that the thread doesn't concern the Spurs. I was just venting.Quote:

So, why not Noel to SA?
If we hadn't brought Ian in this year, yes. I'm under the impression that Noel's days as a small forward project are over.Quote:

No sweat.
Noel will go down average 18 and 10, block 2 a game, and get signed up by a team needing frontcourt help.
No worries Kori. I didnt want to get that Cleveland jersey anyways :lol

It's just a question of where this Felix guy ends up.
6'9'' word class athletes that can jump out of the gym with low post skills, good work ethic, intelligence, unselfishness, and good range usually get picked up.
My guess is the Hornets or Clippers give him a try.
Being predictable is one of yours though.Quote:

True, he's pretty consistent from outside now. But his niche in the league is going to be defense and shot blocking.Quote:

Sometimes when guys don't make the league (or do make the league), it's all about timing.
There's a lot of talented guys who aren't in the NBA (yet) and a lot of other guys who are worse players than them who are playing in the league. Sometimes people get lucky while others get unlucky.
We'll see what happens.
This journey is providing a great learning experience for him and it will only make him better once he finally finds a home. It sucks in the meantime, but he'll probably really appreciate it more, i.e. Bruce, when he finds the right place.

Today, they didn't tell him he needed to work on much of anything. They just said that they know he'll be in the league this year - they'll try to help him find a place on another team, etc.Quote:

Now, he has some very nice moves now - he has a very good drop step that has shocked me a few times, he has a nice baseline spin move that he uses to get free and to the rim. He is pretty diverse in the post offensively. Defensively, his timing on block shots is really, really good. He's always been able to block shots (he averaged like 5 a game in high school). But his timing and vision for blocks is exceptional now.
I mean, if he never makes it back to the league again, then eventually he will be okay anyway. He made it for a short time in Seattle and he even blocked a Yao dunk :lol - not many people can say that. But I really think he deserves a chance. He's good enough and he's a very good guy.
If angel luv owned the Spurs, their core would be Rasho, Beno, Noel, and Bostjan. :vomit:
Noel's line in tonight's preseason game for Anaheim:
33:13 min
3-7 fg
1-1 3pt
1-2 ft
3 reb
5 pf
5 to
3 blk
8 pts

Looks like Steven Smith and the guards are doing all the scoring. The good news is he's probably going to get a lot of playing time.
Hell, they could use one when they move Duncan over to the 5 in a small ball lineup. If they had one, perhaps they might finally be able to beat the Mavs. :lolQuote:

Yeah, I talked to him for a while on his drive back. He had a tough time with the moving screen call tonight. He had five blocks in the previous exhibition scrimmage. So he's probably going to do pretty well in that area. He will start and get a big bulk of the minutes.Quote:

Steven Smith could be a little more the kind of player the Spurs could be looking for in a long small forward, so we might keep an eye on him as well.
Magic Assign Marcin Gortat To Anaheim Arsenal
Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic have assigned forward Marcin Gortat (MAR-chin GOR-tat) to the Anaheim Arsenal of the NBA Development League, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Gortat will continue to be included on the Magic’s roster and will remain on the team’s Inactive List.
Gortat has not appeared in a game this season. He has been on the Inactive List a total of 11 times and has registered one DNP-CD. Gortat was selected in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft. His rights were acquired by Orlando on draft night (June 28, 2005) in exchange for cash considerations.
Gortat played in all five games with the Magic during the 2007 Pepsi Pro Summer League, averaging 10.0 ppg., 6.8 rpg., 2.6 apg. and 3.20 blkpg. in 30.8 minpg. He has participated with Orlando’s summer league team the last three years.
Gortat (6’11”, 240, 2/17/84) has spent the last three seasons (2004-07) with RheinEnergie Koln in Germany’s Bundesliga I league. Last season, he averaged 10.4 ppg., 5.6 rpg. and 1.1 blkpg., while shooting .596 from the floor in 14 games of Euroleague action. He also played in 44 games in the German League, averaging 8.9 ppg., 6.2 rpg. and 1.4 blkpg., while shooting .575 from the field. Gortat was selected to the Polish National Under-22 team after having played basketball for only six months. During the summer of 2004, he was invited to play for the Polish National Team.

Shouldn't be an issue for Noel. He can plat wherever Gortat doesn't. The best lineup for them including Gortat will be Gortat/Felix/Smith/White/Diaz. Smith and Noel's respective talent and versatility will get them minutes in pretty much any situation this season.
Looks like Noel is leaving the D-League to take Marcus Slaughter's place on Hapoel Jerusalem.
He left L.A. day before yesterday. They gave him $25K a month for the rest of the season and he'll start in Slaughter's place.Quote:

More seriously.... are the spurs still keeping tabs on him? I remember there was once a discussion about how he could one day become the 'long 3'?
Felix has only to look at a couple of Spurs, --AJ and Bowen were guys on the bubble of NBA talent for years-- both of whom will wind up with their jerseys in the rafters, for role models on how to persevere with his dream of an NBA career.
