GOOD RIDDANCE BENO!
Hmm so the third string is Washington - wow, with VoughnQuote:

About time.
I'm glad it finally got done.
hahahaha, stupid minnesota :lmao
after a week, twolves will be begging someone to take beno for a bag of cheetos
:lmao @ Kevin McHale.
He traded a second rounder for Beno?!?!?!
just came out on 5pm news on ksat 12...We get a protected 2nd round pick from wolves. This means we have an extras spot on the roster. Does this mean we keep our second round pick this year?? it did seem obvious that something was up with us keeping 4 point gaurds. I guess we know why now.
Yoda
Protected, but still! :lmaoQuote:

I can't believe they actually got someone to take him.
Christmas came early this year.
Protected 2nd probably so restricted we'll never see it.
Who cares?
The question is... what now?
Washington DEFinitely is on.
But that last spot...
Williams back in?
Keep it open?
Sign up Nichols or somebody??
No cash ?
I will be really surprised if Spurs have found a team ready to spend $1.75M on Beno.
What exactly does the protected mean. If they have a high second, they can choose to keep it and we get the next 2nd round pick next yeaR? I always get confused with this. Can someone clear it up for me?
Yoda
was nichols claimed by cleveland off waivers? so...is it possible the spurs just keep the roster spot open going into the trading deadline for flexibility?
Protected = No lower than 80.
Damn ... maybe the Spurs should bring back Marcus Williams. Or anyone really who could be sent to the DLeague.
I'm just glad Beno is gone. He had skills but had absolutely no desire or heart.
Na-na Nah Nah,
Na-na Nah Nah,
Hey Hey,
GOOD - BYE YOU FVCKING WORTHLESS WASTE OF PROTOPLASM
What, that's not how it goes?
about time! Now Beno can focus on rebuilding his career somewhere they can use a no heart slacker like him
If McHale didn't get $3M in this deal, he's an even worse GM than I thought.Quote:

We should pick up another guy. There are some SF types with decent potential on the waiver wire so far:Quote:

Probably more to come,
Just saw Cleveland picked up Demetrius Nichols. Good for them. Here's supposing the Spurs bring Marcus Williams back.
Did the T'Wolves have the cap space or a trade exception? I'm in shock that the Spurs were able to get a second rounder for Beno.Quote:

Hmmmm, not many taco places in Minneapolis and with the cold weather, Beno may have nothing better to do than work on his game. Who knows, Minnie may not regret renting him for a season.
I don't think Spurs will sign someone else.Quote:

That'd be pretty cool.Quote:

I guess they can wait until deals are prorated.Quote:

If McHale isn't stupid the deal should be Beno + $1.75M to pay his salary + a little cash as incentive (like $250K) for a TE and a top59 protected second round pick.
Barry for Garnett?Quote:

shit son, whos gonna be the new scapegoat???
Don't worry dude, with all the extra poundage you've packed on eating those tacos the Minnesota winters will be a piece of cake.Quote:

A situation that'd make sense is:Quote:

I wonder if that'd be allowed. It'd be a nice way to steal some D-League talent and improve the Toros chance of winning. Toros winning = more fans in stadium = more money for Holt.
Beno wasn't a scapegoat...he earned his scorn.
Half the people celebrating his departure were Beno fans his first season here...
Dude didn't play hard.
He didn't stay in shape.
He was injury prone.
And then he turned cancerous on top of it all....
Does this make the Spurs offseason a successful one?
Resign Oberto, Bonner, and Vaughn...draft Tiago Splitter, a prospect center....sign Ime Udoka, a prospect SF...extend Bruce Bowen a couple years....and now we lost the deadweight of Beno Udrih, and managed to find what might be a diamond-in-the-rough replacement.
After the Scolacolypse...I'd say that's a pretty decent recovery, if nothing else. Definitely goes through most of the checklist these forums set at the start of the offseason.
Did they waive Simien already?Quote:

They are going to waive SimienQuote:

That's really weirdQuote:
The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have traded guard Beno Udrih to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for a protected 2008 second round draft pick.
InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner hears the Wolves also received cash considerations in the deal, and that they are going to waive Udrih. Strange deal.

Yeah, perhaps Minnesota just cuts him. The trade could be basically the Spurs giving the Timberwolves a little bit of cash just to allow the Spurs to move out from under the luxury tax threshold.Quote:

Although, we are dealing with Kevin McHale so perhaps the Spurs got an actual second round pick and didn't have to give up cash. That'd be a rather nice trade.

That pretty much assures Udoka and Washington will be on the active roster if wasn't proven by now. Vaughn and either Horry or Mahinmi will be on the inactive list.
The only weird thing about it is they gave the Spurs a conditional second round pick. The Spurs FO is still high-fiving as we speak.Quote:

A team can't trade a trade exception without adding something. They must add cash or a draft pick or rights to a player.Quote:

NO WAY. OR ELSE I WILL START A ONE MAN RIOT THAT WILL EQUAL THE 68 DETROIT ONE.
What's wrong with Wayne Simien that the twolves woudln't take a chance.
He was a man beast at Kansas.
