Elson played well yesterday
I think he'll play the same or more minutes then Fabricio in regular season
I think Oberto is like Horry, a playoff guy
Never though I'd see the day when Elson would out-play Shaq and outperform Duncan in a game. This should be a big bosst for his confidence and hpe he builds on it. He's had the better start to the season than Fab so far.
Yeah, Elson's rebounding rate is great. It's just slightly lower than that of Bonzi Wells.
I like the way Elson is moving without the ball and taking his shots when he has them. It's almost like he's involved in the game.
His jumpshot has improved this year.
Anybody else but me notice Elson has a new shot? Where he fakes a pass to a teammate, and shoots from about 18 feet. And Manu has a new shot too, he now uses that fingerroll teardrop consistently against tall guys.
Elson's shot isn't new....he's always had the 18-footer. But I'm not really that impressed with it because he doesn't hit it consistently and he never has.Quote:

About the only good thing I can say for him is that he has finished around the basket more often than not this season....which is a welcomed change.
But I don't see Elson as ever getting the lion's share of the minutes at Center this season. And if Mahinmi continues to show promise along with the arriveal of Splitter next year, I'm not sure there will be a need for Elson. Of course, alot of it will depend on his asking salary....if he wants any more than the $3M he's getting right now, I doubt the Spurs will pony up.
Bottom Line: Elson just aint that good.
PHAT TONY, your full of Bologna...which is a poem except it dont look as good when you type it
Elson has averaged 8rpg in 23mpg so far. It's really good.
Spurs really need Elson this year. Oberto is often overmatched by quick an big players, Bonner defense is very suspect, Horry is old and Mahinmi isn't ready to contribute (and I'm not even sure Spurs see him as a good prospect).

Elson has been playing SOLID basketball. No more, no less. Personally, I think that's exactly what the Spurs want from him. There's no need for Elson to average 15/10, unless his main priority is to satisfy some of the anal posters on Spurstalk. I'm happy with 8/7.
I like Elson to start if Manu continues off the bench. Manu and Oberto have great chemistry, especially on the screen and roll. Why not maximize their court time together?
I actually remember quite a few times where Manu was actually even able to make Nazr look goodQuote:

They should continue to share the load this season as they did last season and the Spurs FO should balance Elson as a 20MPG guy against his asking price....if it's more than the $3M he's already getting, I say the Spurs should walk away as they did with Nazr and backfill from in house (Mahinmi & Splitter) or FA.
If it were me, I'd walk away regardless and see what I had in the two young guys to fill the backup center role for 15-20 MPG...but that's just me.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :spless:Quote:
