a point guard that can't play for one of the worst teams in the NBA is good enough to play for the Spurs?
Makes sense.
Um, our current backup PG is Jaques Vaughn.
West plays behind E. Watson and L. Ridnour... two starting-quality PGs.
Put the hot dog down.
:lol
Who ya gonna trade that Seattle wants?
question
how about putting down the pipe, its too early.
Delonte West sucks.
I'd rather have Jacques
careful what you wish for. delonte is a chucker. hes more of a undersized shooting guard than a real point guard
Delonte is a freckled version of Nick Van Exel.
Without the clutchness.
Lemme get this straight... a young backup PG that can pass and shoot?
Maybe you guys are right... let's stick with the 90-year-old dynamo Jaques Vaughn.
I bet we could get Vaughn cheap and sell PJ on someone he is familiar with off our bench.
West has some health troubles this year and that's why he doesn't play a lot in Seattle. I'm not sure that Seattle is ready to trade him while they haven't been able to really evaluate him.
Hey Ghost,
a guy thats watched him up close that is a Celtics fan says he sucks, but yet you know more than him?
Holy crap, have you even watched the Sonics play? Worst pg's in the league that aren't named Eric Snow.
Please tell me you guys don't seriously think that Jaques Vaughn is better than, um, any backup PG.
I challenge you to name a worse second PG off the bench.
Period.
Beno Udrih.
Too easy.
So you want a backup PG that's going to steal touches from Manu off the bench and jack up shots? Jacques rarely turns the ball over, plays good D, and hits open jumpers. He's a good fit for this team. You might want something flashier, but the Spurs knew what they were doing when they signed him.
Answer my question.
And Beno was starting for Sac and doing really well, you dope.
Vaughn doesn't hit open jumpers.
What was those things he made vs the lakers the other night....Quote:
Vaughn doesn't hit open jumpers.
What's Vaughn's scoring average and FG%?
Name a worse backup.
Had no pressure on him and chucked up a bunch of shots.Quote:

Sounds like Spurs material to me.
Vaughn is a solid backup PG. we might need a 3rd pg though especially since Tony is hurting
If you think Ridnour is better than Delonte West. You should just hope the Spurs trade for Ridnour instead. He's the one that the Sonics have been trying to deal for the last year.Quote:

I'm wondering if JeffDrums hi-jacked your username. Do you actually watch any of the games? Or do you limit yourself to the boxscore?
If the Sonics want to give away West, this actually wouldn't be a bad idea. Especially if there's a chance that Parker's ankle never gets quite right.
That said, the Sonics probably value West more than Ridnour and Watson once you consider the contracts of all three.
That's fine, as long as we keep Vaughn in case West continues to suck.
Last year, Jacque hit 46.6% of his long two's. He is actually far worse around the basket. If you just want to talk about shooting percentage, and since scoring averages are pretty unreliable compared with actually value to a team (the Spurs should have at least taught you that by now), some PG's with worse TS%'s and turnover ratios are Brevin Knight, Travis Diener, Jason Hart, Jannero Pargo, Chris Duhon, Sebastian Telfair, Luke Ridnour, etc. It goes on.Quote:

Jacque's a good deal. That said, I would have liked to have had Darius Washington around as an offensive spark-plug 3rd PG.
Chris Quinn is Jason Williams' backup in Miami. Mike James is Rafer Alston's backup in Houston.Quote:

P.S.
Jan 24 West did not play Wednesday as he appears to be the odd man out in coach P.J. Carlesimo's shortened rotation. Carlesimo is limiting the rotation to nine or 10 players. With two point guards (Luke Ridnour, Earl Watson) already playing, there is little room left for West.
Carlos Arroyo, Steve Francis, Nate Robinson, Quinn, I could go on and on...Quote:

Half those guys start and all of them are way better.
ok Ghost Whiner, you go win a championship with Williams or little Nate as your backup PGs LOL
Beno has played well in Sac when he was getting starters minutes. He didn't seem to have any confidence with his limited role in San Antonio.Quote:

As long as Vaughn doesn't shoot anything other than a wide open mid range jumper and facilitates ball movement within the offense he's the ideal backup PG for the Spurs. You can't just look at the player from a stats or one on one matchup perspective, you have to look at what their role is for their team. Vaughn's role is not to put up numbers, his role is to facilitate ball movement with the 2nd unit to set up Manu, Udoka, Barry, etc. On defense he's exactly what Pop wants at the PG position for the 2nd unit. Face it, he's the backup PG for this season and more than likely next as well. Pop loves the guy because he plays his role fairly consistently and doesn't take away touches from the scorers.
He always hits his open jumpers. You must not watch many Spurs games, or your just a hater.Quote:

since when is 44% a bad clip?
Jacque Vaughn is hard working, smart, hustling, reliable, and he does hit open jumpers consistently. He does the job for the Spurs and as long as he is cool in Pops book, who gives a F*CK what you think.
go head, pick up delonte. he'll be your problem now
On shots between 15 to 18 feet, Vaughn has hit a very good percentage as a Spur. In fact, he might hit those shots at a higher percentage than anyone on the team.
I'm not a big Vaughn fan overall because I think his defense is overrated and sometimes he doesn't pass quickly enough. However, I dislike him because he doesn't hit jumpers. That's just inaccurate.
And while I'm not a huge Vaughn fan, for what they are paying him he's better than anyone else the Spurs could get. You could try to find a young second round pick or something but that player isn't going to bring Vaughn's leadership or his willingness to accept his role.
It's fine to be a Vaughn playa hata, Ghost, but at least hate him for valid reasons.
I hate him because he sucks... open jumpers or not.
Still waiting for a worse backup.
Anyone?
at least you have a backup PGQuote:

If he really is outbound from Seattle, I see no reason why the Spurs shouldn't make a run at him.
All those guys you listed are better.
I hate "cheap."
We only get guys like Bowen and Vaughn, because no one else wants them.
They are not that good guys.
C'mon.

Actually Vaughn's hit quite a few open jumpers since the Finals last season. I used to cringe when he came in but I've gotta admit he's stabilized himself quite a bit.Quote:

You want us to get excited about a guy who is scoring 3.7 points on 25% shooting in 20 minutes a game this month.Quote:

Ricky Davis came in off the bench to relieve Williams in the Miami game, so that makes him the back up point guard. Ricky Davis sucks worse than Vaughn does, so there.
I like Delonte but he's not a very good PG. He's got some real clutchness to his game. He's a small scoring guard who brings energy and hustle. Of course, Tony Parker is too but Tony has more floor leadership skills.
he was pretty clutch when he hit me that game tying three pointer on Live aganist the kings shit was wet.Quote:

Thank you Chump Dumper. To criticize someone for their hard work and dedication get's old, especially when it isn't merrited.
Are you a democrat GW. :lol
Well said! Vaughn understands his role perfectly. Spurs don't need a chucker that doesn't know the difference between a good shot and a bad one. All a chucker will do is take away shots from our big 3 and other high percentage open corner 3's from our wings Udoka/ Bowen/ Finley. I do agree though that Vaughn is sometimes telepathic with his passing and his defense is a tad overrated. All in all for his price and how he understands his role. Vaughn is a bargain. You can't find a better fit for the price. Spurs need a big man in the middle if anything.Quote:
