I've alwys thought that Nash'd be a great backup for the Spurs. When can he leave Phoenix?
If he can be had for vet min -in his twilight yrs, why not ?
he probably let the man he's guarding easily scored 20pts

i am sure tim wont mind giving steve what amare and shaq could not have given him.
Nash is the purest point guard in the league. I've always loved his game and respected the man.
But, the guy is also one of the biggest defensive liabilities there ever was. I can't even imagine what his defense will look like in a couple more yrs.

Nash doesn't work in this system, because Pop wants his PGs to be aggressive, look to score, and play defense. Hell, he wants Jacque Vaughn to be a score-first PG.
Nash is a great scorer, so he's capable of fitting in that regard....but it would be a considerable waste of his passing talent to try to fit him in the current system. And as you've seen with recent failed acquisitions (Shaq and J-Kidd), it is important that game-changing talents adjust to the system rather than the system adjusting to the talent.
It just wouldn't work.
Hopefully we'll have Mahinmi & Splitter to cover his a$$ in the lane by then, still led by Duncan ofcourse. This is so friggen funny, you guys reject the notion of having a 2 time MVP playing for your team, even just going off the bench as a veterant role player ? LOLQuote:

if you guys mean Nash at the end of his career, then sure..but Nash is way too good to come play a BACKUP role right now..
his defense wouldn't be a problem..we get away with Finley playing significant minutes, and he might be the worst perimeter defender in the NBA..
You could basically sub Nash for Finley and you'd have about the same defense.
But not the same paycheck or offense.
