If things keep going how they are the Spurs wont have to worry about facing the Lakers in the playoffs.
.. i'm not that worried about the mavs .. i think we can beat them in the playoffs maybe in 6 games .. but the lakers look really scary .. they have really big frontcourt players who can score and defend compare to our bigs .. we cannot rely on our 3 point shooting all the time .. just look what happen to the spurs tonight against the heat .. any thoughts on how the spurs can win a series against the lakers .?.

Two words - they can't
Only way this current 9 man rotation can beat the Lakers is if they shoot over 50% from 3 in 4 games.
Which means they can't and will be gone fishing in 6 games.
honestly, the Spurs would have to shoot 50% or better for the series to win and play some decent defense. the Lakers are going to run the Spurs off the 3 forcing tough floaters over Bynum.
If Bynum keeps playing the way he is right now the Spurs better hope Dallas can beat them or take them deep in a playoff series.
Unless the Spurs surprise me with a big time turnaround in intensity, skill, toughness and energy, I don think the Spurs will even make it past OKC, maybe not make it to them.
Playing like this, Memphis can beat them.
Nobody's beating the Lakers 4 times this year. The only question at this point is whether or not they will 4-peat.
2011 Spurs = 2007 Mavs
2011 Lakers = 2010 Lakers
The Lakers can clearly smell it. Sad to say that a Lakers vs Miami final is probably the best option if you're interested in seeing the smirk wiped off of Kobe & PJ's faces.
But ever since '07, things have only gone against the Lakers once. Gee, that Gasol trade, good deal huh?
We just have to enforce our style of play and push the ing ball, AND attack the rim.
Lately, too many jumpshots have been taken, and the sad thing is the entire team is OFF.
They can't throw a ing fish in the ocean.
And oh yeah, having Matt Bonner play a really big role while he is off really demotes this team below all other contenders.
Good mighty ing African God, Bonner grow some balls.
Bonner will not and never could! He will not start soon so why even hope he will? He does this crap year after year, it is him and always will be him! I hate him in the game for heavy mins, I hate him on this team! When he reupped I knew this crap would happen, and it is again. He is trash, he is a horrible player, period.
Honestly, I don't know what the pop is doing, and I can't reason from this rotation. Especially now. Bonner is a regular season's Robert Horry, and that's maybe saying too much. Bonner in big games/playoffs is the complete opposite of regular season Bonner. I'm talking about a complete 180 of proportions.
Pop believes having Bonner out there stretches the floor, which does to an extent. But c'mon, based on how Bonner has performed these last couple of years you'd think Pop would've figured what is best for his rotation. Not integrating Splitter in the line-up + Splitter's mid season injury I believe is the reason why we won't get past the WCF.
Jeez why don't all doomday people go ing commmit suicide. We're having a rough strech they may be bored who knows, we have weakness but so does everyone else. We must go right at the lakers to beat them. Get them in foul trouble and bynum won't keep this up, if he can even stay healthy.
The league wants a Lakers/Heat finals and that's what they are trying to get. Even to the point of forcing Boston to give up Perkins so the Heat can advance out of the East.
Just score one or more points in 4 out 7 games. Simply enough
I agree the league wants us no where near the finals but going by our record we've been the most consistent team all season. If we continue that we got a shot.
Only way I see is the 3 point monster coming into effect(any shooting % monster actually). manu, george(wtf happen to him) ..parker and even jefferson need to attack and stop worrying about making bynum and gasol's block highlight reel. Drive and draw fouls. Get the lakers in foul trouble and they will back off some. But in order to have that the guys need to be able to kick out and let the 3 point shooters do their job. Otherwise the lakers will know they won't kick out cause they cant make simple baskets. Move the ing ball and make open shots. Simple really..
I'm a laker fan first but I really wanna see a battle between LA n SA. That won't happen if the spurs don't attack like they have a purpose.
A lineup of Bonner + Blair will not beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. Regardless of who's got homecourt. Also forget about Splitter contributing. That is just a crackpipe dream, wake up.
Pop gonna have to tighten the belt and have a rotation of about 7 players and Duncan + Dice gonna have to play 35 minutes each.
Parker, Manu, Hill, Neal, RJ, Duncan, Dice, Blair(limited)
in other words: we're in for some tough
Score more than them 4 out of 7 games...
I, like many others here, stated ad nauseum that Splitter needed to see more minutes. Yes, he missed TC and had some minor injuries along the way, but Pop still had a plethora of time to get Splitter integrated into the lineup. His reluctance to do so will ultimately torpedo such a promising season.
I think the real problem is how the refs call the games. Not saying it determined the outcome last night but the refs totally changed the game by letting Wade and LeBron get away with murder when they had the ball. Sometimes even calling the Spurs for the foul when they were clearly bowled over or forced back. Also, the game against the Lakers, there were several times that Bynum or Gasol were clearly over the back on rebounds but there were no calls.
One call doesn't change the game but a group of early bad calls or no calls can determine which team has an advantage.
Pretty much
