congrats man!ST has helped me learn alot too.I mean you run across the usual bag homer but people on this site have amazing knowledge of the game and it feels like i'm learnin somethin new everyday
As I click the Submit New Thread button, it becomes fact that I have posted on SpursTalk 10,000 times. And a great 10,000 times it was.
It all started when I was 14, and I was introduced to a Tony Parker printout poster by a friend. I enjoyed the picture and it became my favorite. I looked at the bottom and saw the link was printed as well. A link to SpursZone.
Later on into the day when I had access to my computer, I went to spurszone.com and saw that it was a pretty impressive Spurs website. And as I do with just about every website, I went through all the features so I can become familiar with what I'm able to do.
When looking at all the options, I saw one link that led to SpursTalk.com.
I was new to forums back then and didn't know where I was going, and so it happened. I saw SpursTalk.com for the first time. I realize that it was a place where many people across the world can come to talk Spurs, basketball in general, other sports, and just about every topic you can think of. But this wasn't like any other forum, where you can only expect a post every 30 minutes or hour. This was an ongoing forum. Probably the only forever ongoing forum that I know of.
And of course, when I first joined, I was one who was new to actually talking about the Spurs. I knew the basics of basketball and the basics of the average fan should know about a player, such as position, age, strengths and weaknesses. But SpursTalk opened a big brand new door in my hallway of sports knowledge.
I began to become obsessed with knowing the details. Averages per game, per 48 minutes, tendencies, personalities, ability to cooperate with teammates, free agency, money, the draft, the whole 9. Along the way I was helped by many with this knowledge, such as timvp, ChumpDumper, Kori Ellis, From Way Downtown, Marcus Bryant, among the many. And it didn't stop there. I began to learn more about NFL, MLB, NCAA, European Leagues, minor leagues, D-League etc. SpursTalk is home to some of the most intelligent sports fans I've ever come across.
I become irritated when around my friends and others in school, when the basic "Your team in sucks, my team is best!" talk is all what they have to offer. I realize that I know much more than they do and once I go home, the talk can really begin. I go home, get rid of what I need to do, and then I join the party.
I go to the one place where I feel like by logging in, there's nothing wrong that can happen, where there's no limit, where we fully express an opinion about the things we are truly into. My friends constantly tell me to forget SpursTalk and join them on XBOXLive (oh what an upgrade ), but that is of course just silly talk. I'm here either gaining a great amount of knowledge, while they're just playing videogames and trying to get a high score of a game that's just going to be redone in a few months.
It all comes down to: SpursTalk has been and is still the greatest website and one of my favorite hobbies ever. SpursTalk can do no wrong, only right. SpursTalk is a place where you don't just mouth off about how your favorite sport team is the best, it is a place to gain knowledge and friends everyday. SpursTalk is not a place to around. SpursTalk is not an everyday forum. SpursTalk is the key that shows you the way to better knowledge than you can get anywhere else. SpursTalk is not a website, it is THE website.
