isn't he supposed to be good at defense?
perhaps meaning NOT good at offense?

Perhaps a free agent if he opts out of relatively small contract.

Insanely athletic, insanely good rebounder, no jumper to speak of.
Perfect player for the Spurs to bring.
Doubt he wants to leave his hometown though.
I'm an advocate of the Spurs splitting the MLE, and, in my perfect world, one slice would go to Ariza.
No jumper, it's true. But he's a very good defender, uber-athletic, a good rebounder and gets to the rim. I think his jumper is one good shooting coach away from being decent.
The best part about his defense is that he is super long but has the lateral foot speed to guard points. In other words, he could spot defend Chris Paul.
I'm not sure the Lakers will resign him with Sasha and Turiaf in the offing and the coming extensions of Farmar and Bynum.
The Spurs have had chances to get this guy before, but they didn't. I would be surprised if they were interested now.
agreeed, he would help though..
Yes, I forgot about that. Mitch Kupchack did do something of his own merit last season.
Ariza has earned the right to opt out tonight. I just hope he doesn't play his way to the full MLE.
Hit a corner 3 tonight....
If he can work to make that shot more consistent, why not.
You're not getting Trevor Ariza or Sasha Vujacic or even Ronny Turiaf. They are going to be Lakers for a long time coming.
The only one I wanted was Ariza, but even then, it's possible to replace him if we missed out on him.
Lakers have to keep these guys, I agree. They gave up some draft picks in the Gasol collusion, although I'm sure Stern and West, wherever he is next, will gin up another All-Star for Free package.
I don't want any Laker in a Spurs uniform. Including Kobe![]()
Bass is going to carry a payroll like Dolan. Riiiigghhhttt. lmfao
Well, before tonight, my dream offseason, in terms of free agency, was something on par with Buike and Ariza for a split MLE, but that seems impossible now.
And don't listen to the Laker fans. If they're serious, it's because they're stupid. Their team doesn't have the cash to resign Turiaf, Ariza, and Sasha Isa , especially with the coming max extension to Bynum.
That's ok. You can keep them.
Minus the focus and dedication.
The Spurs really need someone with neck tattoos. Ariza just might be the best way to solve that.
....and less on-the-ball defensive tenacity.
How did you feel about Horry in 2004?
I don't know about 1P1's opinion, but Horry is an exception. He already had a reputation after he left the Rockets. I considered him the guy that helped Olajuwon win, when he came to the club.
Oh yeah, and the Lakers abandoned him anyway, so whatever.
So far right now, the new scrubs havent' all been tainted by Laker org.
By they are becoming es this year before our very eyes. (i.e. Farmar and Sasha fighting over the ball in game 3)
would be a nice fit to replace bowen..
1Parker1 not wanting Kobe??? Wait a minute...I can't stand the Lakers, but if the Spurs could have Kobe, I'm all for it.
