    2. MARIO WILLIAMS
    Houston Texans, 2006-present

About him: Unlike Allen, Williams came into the league with a lot of fanfare. After wowing scouts at the combine, Williams vaulted his peers to become the top pick of the 2006 draft, ahead of such college luminaries as Reggie Bush, Vince Young and Matt Leinart. His first season was a letdown, though. Playing amid a severe foot injury and weighty expectations, Williams produced just 4.5 sacks, and many Texans fans were ruing the team's decision to enlist him. But "Super Mario" turned it around in 2007, especially in the second half, and began to look like he just might be the second coming of Reggie White. He registered 14 sacks, 10 coming in Houston's final seven games. The performance earned him second-team all-pro honors.

Notable stats: Williams' 18.5 career sacks make him the Texans' career leader.

No DE should be mentioned in the same sentence as Reggie White. Especially not a DE with only 2 years under his belt.
