The father of "Slumdog Millionaire" child star Rubina Ali has allegedly offered the girl up for sale in an illegal adoption deal, the Times of London reported.
Rafiq Qureshi reportedly put Rubina up for adoption, demanding millions of rupees worth 200,000 British pounds ($295,560), according to the newspaper.
"I have to consider what's best for me, my family and Rubina's future," he is claimed to have told an undercover reporter with the News of the World.
Qureshi tried to blame Hollywood executives for forcing him to put his daughter up for sale, the newspaper reported.
"We've got nothing out of this film," he told News of the World. "They haven't looked after us. They gave some money at the start but they gave nothing afterwards. They've been talking about giving us a house, but all they do is talk."

This is a sad story.
I heard they only set up trust funds for the kids. I mean, there was not ever a plan that this movie was going to be as huge as it was.
You hope that something amazing would happen for these kids and their families, like they get taken care of and get taken out of the "slums." However, the truth of the matter is that life isn't always a movie.
And as a parent, how could you offer your child for money? I've just never understood that.
I wish I had millions of dollars so I could buy that little girl and give her a nice home. It's sad that someone is using her s om for a capitalistic venture.
i heard about this story, "latika" and her father denied this story.
Buy low, sell high. That's how the market works right?
