He's coming to Cleveland just like CV was.
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index....on_artest.htmlThe Cavaliers have a lot of options in free agency, but one of their first calls was somewhat surprising.
According to several league sources, the Cavs have been been in contact with Houston Rockets free agent forward Ron Artest. It even included a face-to-face pitch from LeBron James on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, as both were in Southern California for various events.
Artest, who is an unrestricted free agent after his contract that paid him $7.4 million with the Rockets expired, is being courted by several teams. Artest is believed to prefer to play for a championship contender and in addition to the Rockets the Cavs may be getting some compe ion from the Boston Celtics for his services.
With the Rockets facing the uncertain injury status of stars Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, it is unclear how hard they will try to push to re-sign Artest. They are pursuing Orlando Magic free agent center Marcin Gortat.
The Rockets have had interest in Cavs free agent Anderson Varejao in the past, which opens up some possibilities of a sign-and-trade scenario - though the Cavs have said they want to re-sign Varejao.
Artest played for coach Mike Brown when Brown was the associate head coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2003-05. He is the type of forward the Cavs would be interested in. He has the ability to stretch the floor because he has range to out to the 3-point line. He is an excellent defensive player and a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year who can guard a wide variety of defenders, which would fit nicely with James, who can do the same.
What isn't clear is how Artest would fit with the Cavs. He does not have a background that fits the type of players the Cavs usually attempt to acquire. In addition to his role in the infamous brawl in Detroit five years ago, has been suspended for pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge two years ago. In all, he's been suspended nearly a dozen times by the NBA.
However, he has been a good citizen for the last two years and helped carry the Rockets into the second round of the playoff last season.
He averaged 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Rockets in 2008-09.
He's coming to Cleveland just like CV was.
all I know that if there is a god in this world, there will be a sign and trade with the Cavs and Rockets which will be similar to the Shaq trade. I hope, I pray that there sign and trade is Z and Wally or something stupid so I can laugh and laugh at Rockets fans
When I thought of the Cavs needs going into this offseason the first position that popped into my head was small forward.
Seems like Boston wants every PF FA in the league if you ask the "experts."
I think they would move Lebron to SG, but I was thinking the same thing. They just need size really
I've just heard they're going hard after Sheed, which is a good move for them.
They want to move Lebron to PF....
And you heard that from who?
I think the poster is referring to Boston (in regards to going after Sheed) - and it has been widely reported that they are.
Ask Boston fans and they don't think so. I've only seen one Boston fan on here so far that thinks Rasheed would be a good move. And they're not the only ones that think it's a bad move.

You are quite the dumbass, who the does your team have that we could possible want...outside of lebron?
Once Artest/if artest is signed thats it.
Besides, I'd rather see him on the lakers than watch the team he's on lose to the magic again
Ric Bucher, and that other for ESPN.
Apparently KG is trying really hard to get him to come to Boston, I guess they're good buddies.
The fans won't be the ones that make the decision, the Celtics are. If they think it's a good move, which they apparently do, they'll make that move. They need another big and a rotation of KG, Perkins and Sheed sounds damn fine to me.
If Ron doesn't sign with houston he's signing with LA..
Besides his twitter said he wouldn't do any mid level , if Cleveland wants to sign him to 10 + mil, they are welcome to
Singed DuncanOWNSKobe in February
Rockets going into rebuild mode
Do you think Sheed wants to be a bench player on the Celtics or a starter in San Antonio? Keep in mind he's already said he wants to play in warmer weather than Detroit, and he begged Detroit to trade him to San Antonio during last season.
that's why everyone is saying a sign and trade. Names being floated around are Anderson Varajeo, Zydrunas Ilgakas, and Wally Szerbiak (also a s/t)
man would you look good in a Wally jersey
How would he sign with the Lakers if he's "not doing any mid level "? He probably wouldn't have a choice since hardly any teams have cap space. But it's a moot point since I'm sure he'll re-sign with Houston.
I dont know about this. Theyve already removed one shooter from the starting line up by replacing Big Z with Shaq, and now they want to put another guy who needs the ball in his hands to be effective and cant really shoot.
Plus, they already played a combination of Varejao/Wallace at the 4, who cant shoot. You have to play to LeBron's strengths and surround him with shooters, or guys that will allow him to get to the rim the easiest way possible.
The rockets aren't looking into financial room, they have more than enough cap for the 2010 season anyways, Yao brings a lot of money in from china
Let me guess this must be your credible source that cited the Amare to cleveland rumor, i mean you really can't be that stupid?![]()
Thats what I said, he said he wasn't interested in mid level , so even if he was, LA would be on his list before Cavs
if Wally is traded for Artest I will be like a kid on Christmas. I will buy Wally jerseys for Sook and Indazone my 2 Rockets buddies.
That might be possible if Chris Wallace or Danny Ferry was our GM.
your team just lost their centerpiece for the year, guys don't want to come to Houston and lose, they want to come to Cleveland and join the party
