Never heard about this particular event, but Chetniks were not active in my part and ex-YU narrative was that Partisans were the ultimate good guys and all other fractions complete crooks. They did the saving and others did the betraying
Resistance in Yugoslavia was strong, especially in second half of the war, so generally speaking - if locals got to them first, they would be safe.
Back in the 90s local newspaper quite often featured stories about visiting airmen reunited with their rescuers, all of them saved by Partisans, who were only truly active resistance here.
