It's a digital world my friend. You're either going to get the ones and zeros on to the other end or you're not. So go get the cheapest cable and as long as it works, you're getting the very best image you're going to get with any cable.
Was looking for a thread on one quickly but couldn't find one. Wondered if there's much of a difference in picture quality between brands. Is there one out there that makes a significant difference or not really. Thanks in advance.

BTW, some people here have recommended:
http://www.monoprice.com
if you're looking for good cables on the cheap
(disclaimer: I have nothing to do with that site)
don't buy monster. monoprice is cheap, just as good, and a fraction of the cost.
This.
Monster is a big time waste of money...
Dont pay attention to all the "gold plated" hype and . There really is no discernable difference.
It's like buying a pair of Oakely sunglasses vs what you get at a convience store. They both block the shade but one is just selling on it's name. Sure, you may be able to say you have Oakley's but there is really no difference as far as effectiveness.
get the cheapest cable, they are all the same
dont believe on that bs pricier = better quality, theres test done to show the cheap cables perform just the same as those expensive brands
It doesn't make much of a difference for digital cables.
I don't know if I'd go THAT far.... Oakleys do have better quality lenses than most of the stuff you get at the 7-11. They also fit much, much nicer on the face. I can't wear most brands of sunglasses because they put hurt my head, especially around the temples, and I get headaches/pressure/etc. Oakleys don't, so that's a difference worth paying for to me.

What about HDMI A vs B cables. Enligten us on that one. And yes, while Oakleys may be over priced, there is a difference in the lenses. Another item that's like that is binoculars.
I use to sell them and the cheap binoculars have the same magnification as the expensive ones, like the Nikons we used to sell. But the Nikons looked clearer and didn't give you a headache if you were looking through them for a long time.
The difference between A and B is in the video bandwidth.
Type A supports all SDTV, EDTV and HDTV modes currently available.
Type B has more pins and supports higher res, like those provided by dual link, for resolutions like 3840x2400.
There's also speed differences. Due to the massive amount of data transmitted, anything over 15ft will switch the hdmi connection to a slower speed, as to deal with the signal loss from the high distance.
All that said, if the digital signal does not arrive perfectly to the other end, you will get a black screen. So the whole system is it either works or doesn't. In that vein, as long as any cable works, you're always getting top notch quality.
I thought this analogy was poor. Lens quality do improve or degrade your vision. There's no such granularity with digital signals. You won't get better or worse audio/video quality based on the cable. You either will get the very best audio/sound or you won't get anything at all. The ONLY caveat is cable length. Some devices will detect that you're using 20+ft cables and switch to a lower resolution in order to accommodate the slower bandwidth. Most devices, however, will not do such thing and you'll basically have a black screen. If you're under 20ft distance, this shouldn't be a concern.
Oh , I'm going to answer this question for the hundredth time like everyone else.
oh wait, I'm not. It's cord dude, not chord, unless you're going to buy a bunch and make a guitar.
lol nah. Oakley is legit. Overpriced, but legit.![]()
i let it pass, but![]()
monoprice got hacked a couple months ago i would beware before buying
that was just funny
Chord works for me. After all, the HDMI cable has multiple digital signals traveling that must stay in symmetry with one another.
But you're right. Cord is the more correct word for cable.
sons monoprice works best but amazon does have it for 2.50 with free shipping.
