an all-Yugoslavian soccer team would look more prodigious imho. had they stayed united Yugoslavians would have been a challenger in both basketball and football areas against the spanish teams tbh.
30 for 30 do entary airing now on ESPN about the Yugoslavian "dream team"...possible Zarko references (for Spurs fans from Robinson's rookie year.)

One of the best do entary's ESPN's 30 for 30 has had to offer.

I DVR'd it so I'll check it out later tonight for sure.
x2
such a shame drazen was taken away so early.. didnt know the whole story between him and vlade till now
That was great.
Now that I think about it...in the 1990 Western Conference Semifinals the Spurs played Portland...so Zarko (Serbian) would have played against his Yugoslavian teammate Drazen (Croatian)...not that either of them played much...
Anyway, big picture - that was a really good do entary. Vlade was a very sympathetic narrator and the brief interviews with Toni Kukoc made me appreciate him more as well.
This do entary was beautiful, emotional. Especially if you are from the region. One of the best of 30 for 30.
Dražen was a great in all of the Yugoslav republics and he still is. A legend. Already so many years have passed since he died, he still is popular. With the old and with the kids. A great one has gone.

It's obvious the deepest euru bball culture and talent is in the Yugo-area. Talent/population wise is very easy too = Lithuania. The best of all time pretty easy too (he was from Greece).
That was one of the absolute best do entaries in the entire series.
It's a damn shame that Vlade and Petro's friendship became a casualty of political consequence. The fact that they never got the chance to mend that friendship is about half as tragic as the untimely death of Petro.
I wish I caught it...hopefully I'll be able to see it on one of the coming air dates. Looks awesome.
Zarko looked trimmer than I thought he would be. I guess Pizza Hut's Personal Pan Pizzas didn't go Serbside.
Either that or Z's still smokes a carton of Salems daily.
Rasho isn't from Greece, he just has greek citizenship.

BUMP!
This just started on ESPN, tune in.
Drazen should have boarded that plane...
In all seriousness though as good as he was, his personality was weird. He was perpetually butthurt with Vlade doing a courageous act with the Croatian flag incident, he was butthurt over not playing much in his first season in the NBA at Portland...just always butthurt all the time. To get pissed forever at Vlade over nothing and end a strong friendship like that...pretty damn pathetic.
I praise him as a player but I have a feeling I wouldn't get along with him, because I don't get along with butthurt pussies.
Just by coincedence (doesn't excist in my opinion) I zapped to this do entary waiting for the Ajax champions league game. I only watched the last 30 minutes of that Ajax game.
I was touched by the do entary and actualy felt stupid not knowing more about Divac' and Petrovic' (broken) relationship in the time I was just introduced to the NBA.
I'll never forget that moment in the offseason that I was at home and heard on the radio that Petrovic was killed in an automobile accident on the German Autobahn.............
