Lakers will get him for Vuja and Ratliff's kneecap

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony has made it known he would like to be traded. The usual teams with the best pieces to make a trade with Denver have been the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets.
However, read this tidbit from Peter Vescey at the NY Post:
I'm admittedly slow on the uptake, but Anthony gave me the impression he's singularly interested in playing for a team in the habit of inhabiting first place and bedding championships -- you know, like the Lakers, Celtics and Spurs.
So, I was not all that surprised when Anthony revealed to The Post he has not expunged any of those three teams from his bottomless pit of gaping options.
For as much as San Antonio Spurs fans would love to have Anthony on board, chances are slim he will ever wear the black and silver. Granted the Spurs would have the players to make a trade with Denver (such as George Hill, DeJuan Blair, Richard Jefferson, etc.) but would the Spurs trade away their future or bring in a malcontent? I think not.
In the end take it with a grain of salt seeing how this probably will never happen.

Duh... why would Denver want RJ's $40 mil contract? Bull...
I stopped reading whe I saw " Peter Vescey "
Melo is the malcontent's malcontent. The trade would never happen anyway, but I shudder at the thought of an entire season of him comparing himself to LeBron. I bet he'd pass to Tim at least 5 or 6 times over an 82-game season.
not enough money, not gonna trade away key players, not gonna happen
And we're discussing this why?
Spurs don't have the pieces to get him. Denver wouldn't trade him to San Antonio. Carmelo wouldn't be a good fit next to the Big 3 considering what the Spurs would have to ship away.
Basically, it's a non-possibility.
No Doubt. Close Thread.
He can't check his ego. IMO, the Spurs can't afford him and the Vescey possibilities are just stupid.
no thanks.
Exact opposite for me.
I enjoy a good laugh.
lol, you said Peter Vescey.![]()
Hoopsworld has more credibility than Vescey.
And the Spurs don't subscribe to Backwards Fighting Pussies magazine.
That publication just gained a new subscriber -- this guy.
You never know. I got a feeling that although Carmelo wants to go to a higher tier team, he doesn't want to be on the Lakers, or Celtics. Yes, his ego is quite large, but it's not large enough to want to team up with other all-stars, he's the kind of player that wants to be the center of attention. Having said that, he could do that in NJ or MIN or even CLE, but he wants to be on a team where he can have his cake and eat it too. Spurs is perfect for that, now I'm not saying I'd be cool with Carmelo bringing the fame to SA and hogging the ball, but I am just pointing that it could happen. And Pop could go for it. Bonner, Hill, Blair for Anthony. haha.
Carmelo knows that you mention the Spurs to get someone to pony up more money.
Melo just recently got married so maybe he and his wife should consider elsewhere...![]()
If only the Lakers still had Kwame Brown!
Vescey is a Spurs hater of the highest order. him.
I made it a little further, but not much. Vescey finally said something I agreed with and I stopped there, not wanting to spoil the moment.
If it goes really wrong with the TP/Erin thing, he could be a piece for Melo
Billups is really bad this year...
