Kobe being in the 1st team is a joke. Tony Allen should be there instead. I'm not even sure if Kobe deserves the 2nd team. That's definitely not bashing on Kobe, but he is not the defender anymore he once was (especially in the beginning of his career). IMO the decision to put him in the 1st team was just based on his overall career achievements.

i'll say at least 2007 or 08 .... he hasnt done anything this year that really stands out .... , D Wade average one block per game. Thats more than anything Bryant has done.

the last time Kobe played above average defense was against Barbossa in the olympics. He hasn't played 1st team worthy defense since he had shaq and horry backin him up.

i agree, for him to make it this year is a slap in the face to any legit defender in the league this year. I bet Tony Allen dropped his crack pipe when he heard Kobe got picked ahead of him.

What a joke that Kobe gets on the list after being lit up badly by the mavs role players. I can't understand how this guy can be consider a great defender when he couldn't even check an over the hill Peja and a streaky player Jason Terry. Ginobili did a better job on Terry last year then what Kobe did this year in the playoffs. I said it a few months ago that he was a ty defender and that he gets the first team defensive selection due to it being popularity contest among these nerdy journalists.
