I've been on the forum 2 years and this is my 5000th post . . . thank you for tolerating me.
I don't think of either of these two milestones are important or significant, but I do appreciate that the absurd inconsequentiality of my existence as a member of Spurstalk should be an occasion for farcical obsequiousness. I have made more than a few astoundingly accurate, remarkably clairvoyant observations in my time on the forum. I have also peppered these brilliant comments with a generous supply of irreverent ass-grabbery and cantankerous jocularity.
For your convenience I have hastily assembled an amazingly unimpressive pie chart do enting how my time on Spurstalk is spent . . .
The best news is that my measured “homerism” regarding the Spurs has paid off for me in that, I have been lucky enough to have been correct regarding the Spurs relevance this year (even inexplicably underestimating the magnitude thereof) and predicting that the Spurs would rise again and become a true contender for numero 5.
, they might even shake that “no repeat” tag and win two in a row (CBA be damned!) . . . but, let's not get ahead of ourselves . . . the voyage is long and the waters be choppy, lads. However, it's nice to be on the side that's winning, right?![]()
Here's to the Spurs for shining the rays of hope on us all and darkening the skies of our Laker/Mavfan brethren. It feels good, bubba. Soak it in.

No cake for you!
Noob.
Still, good to have dedicated folks like you around.![]()
Bring back Waits! No, Murray is cool as well...congatulatoins on your darkened name!
Grey 4 Life dies. Its name lives on.
I guess the grey/black thingy isn't as random as we were led to believe. Congrats Ohm-ster.
I'm still grey on the inside.
Who led you to believe it?
As I've explained, we used to change the names to bolded black (as a tracking indicator for ourselves) when we had to change the user les under your names manually. When the system changed and users could change their own les, then we stopped bold/blacking people. We wanted some people to remain silver and some black (since that's the Spurs' colors).
Now, we rarely change them at all. So the bold/black names are nothing to strive for or hand out congratulations about. It's not an indicator of longevity or performance as a poster -- just rather who was insistent about something that means nothing![]()
Wasn't it also going to be used as a reward for contributing to the SADispatch and for future donations to D-Rob's school as well? Being a lowly grey user has become a forum meme of sorts![]()
Icons, I believe, not color changes.
The boldness means pretty much nothing. My name isn't even bold (it's just black).
Ah. Ever see "The Social Network"? Mark Zuckerburg basically raged his way into becoming a billionaire because he wasn't a part of some club. I guess the bolding meme can have a similar effect![]()
wait, waht?
I didn't want the boldness as a status symbol and have no plans to use it as such. I'm no elitist. I'm not going to change. I'm not going to start calling people "noob" or "gnsf" or go around pretending to have some kind of authority or credibility. I liken it to getting a new pair of appropriate shoes.
