I've never seen someone play like such a weak little pussy as I saw from Tyson Chandler's piss poor display. I had Dampier/Bradley flashbacks.

Haywood, meanwhile, played like a center with a set of balls who won't let Mike Miller and ing 60 year old Juwan goddamn ing Howard pound him in the ass all night on the boards.

Starting Haywood is a win-win. Haywood gets a boost since he's being rewarded for playing like a man, and Chandler gets motivated to not be such a little out there.

No matter what the Mavs do, they are just overmatched by a far superior team.

You don't make wholesale changes in the finals when your team was in the game and did plenty of things well.

    True!

I think it's the battle on the boards that cost them, they gave out 10 extra possessions to Miami. That's huge in a game like this. They did more than enough on both offense, and especially defense, to win the game even with all the wide open shots that Terry and Peja missed. Chandler but also Dirk have to fight harder down there. And Haywood seemed more determined than Chandler out there.

wholesale changes? I'm talking about exchanging one starting caliber center for another.

was it "wholesale changes" when the Mavs decided to start Devin Harris in Game 2 of the 06 WCSF?

Bull he didn't. He was far better defending the paint, and he could actually grab a ing rebound over ing Mike Miller of all people.

    okay.

Mavs played like complete and only lost by 8.

They got the shots they wanted, they broke down Miami's defense, but they missed open shots. Wide open shots, all game long. What happens when those shots start going in?

If Dallas gets the rebounding edge they're supposed to have in this series, and their shooters don't things up royally like this game, then Dallas is the better team.

But never underestimate the heart of a choker.

at Dallas getting the shots they wanted. Miami's defense was stifling. It's already over.

Yeah they really shut down Peja with the 6 feet of space he got for every 3 pointer. Barea getting like 5 uncontested shots in the paint that he missed was really a credit to that shutdown D too.

It's going to be scary when the Heat actually put some decent players around the Big 3. Just having Wade and LeBron makes them by far the best perimeter defensive team in the league and the best overall defensive team and this is with Bibby, Anthony, and Bosh (he's not horrible but he's not great) starting.

Yes, taking Tyson out for Haywood (who played well) is wholesale. That is arguably the second most important starter who got you to the finals.

They could play them together some. Play TC at the 4 when dirk sits and that would get Haywood more minutes. Wouldn't send any message to Chandler though.

TC does need to step up more. He played like a poon last night. He seemed just too afraid of picking up fouls.

Fact is, the Mavs defended Miami better than Miami defended the Mavs. Mavs got exactly what they wanted... they kept the paint well guarded, and forced Miami to win with jumpers, which isnt going to happen that frequently. On the other hand, Dallas was able to get ANY shot they wanted, but didn't shoot well at all. Dirk I expect will be more assertive in G2, and I doubt Barea is going to miss all those chippies again. And I don't expect Bron and Wade to keep shooting over 50% from 3. If Dallas keeps playing defense like they did last night, and just knocks down their open shots like they have been doing all post-season, they will be just fine.

Haywood was much better on defense (surprisingly) than chandler on last night. But ...

    1. He sucks on offense. at least Chandler converts alley-oops ...
    2. He missed a wide open dunk. Not on the run, not on the move, a wide open dunk by a 7 footer in the paint ...shiiiiiiiit. a haywood ...
    3. Keep in mund he was playing mostly against the Heat bench, when all 3 of the Heatles were NOt on the court together. If he starts he aint facing Mike Miller at SF ...he is protecting the rim against Lebron.

Whoever wins the rebounding edge wins this series. Game 1 proved that both teams defend extremely well. Mavs, with their size advantage, should win the rebounding side of things, but from what we saw in Game 1, that was not the case.

Also, Miami is crowding the lane, the intent is to shut down the Mavs mid-range game, and box them out. Once Mavs hitting their outside shots, it will force the Heat to defend out further, opening up the middle game for Dirk, and allowing the Mavs to get some offensive rebounds.

    The series is not over.

Miami is going to win the rebounds in this series, with the Mavs playing so much zone. Mavs just need to minimize the rebounding deficit.

Mavfan is hilarious. If dallas plays good defense, they give credit. But when miami plays good defense, it's "they got the shots they wanted but missed".

Lol thinking jumpshooting teams can win a le.

Did the Mavs not have a lot of good looks and layups that they normally make?

Try watching the game and formulating an actual opinion, before talking out of your ass, moron. It's not just Mav fans who are saying this. Laker and Spurfans have noted the exact same things.

By "normally" do you mean only during the past month? Miami knew the shots would stop falling and closed well on the 3pt shooters for the most part. Peja is obviously broke and terry threw off his own rhythm after he got off to a good start.

Dallas left plenty of people open for 3 too. The only one who couldnt hit was bibby.

Mavs are in a bind. Dirk needs to step it up and rebound better. When Chandler guards Bosh, he gets pulled away from the basket. But you don't want to risk Dirk getting into foul trouble guarding Bosh. So your choice is to let Dirk guard Bosh and risk Bosh going off or getting Dirk into foul trouble, but you grab a few more boards, or you hope that Dirk does a better job on the boards and stay with the Chandler/Bosh assignment.

Also, Barea, Terry and Peja all missed a lot of shots they normally make. They were open looks, but Miami is so good at rotating out and closing that I think our guys were rushing their shots anticipating the closeouts.
