What fan would want Baron Davis and Rashard Lewis on their team?
Just heard David Aldridge on NBATV say:
"They're (the players cut by the amnesty clause) not just gonna be able to go to the Heat or the Lakers. There's gonna be a bidding system for them, where they can be claimed off of waivers, basically, by the teams that are under the tax."
Kinda throws a wrench in the Laker's plan to add Baron davis AND Rashard Lewis, doesn't it? Spin that , Laker fans!![]()

Pieces of
Since the fans don't get a say in who a team signs, I fail to see your point.
All things being equal I would take Shard over RJ. But props to Bruno for calling that before anything was even said. That makes things very interesting. If the bidding system is like Bruno said, then what happens is when a player is amnestied and on waivers, a team will bid on how much they will pay of the players salary and the highest bidder will get him.
So for example, if the Spurs use it on RJ and the winning bid is 40% of his salary, the Spurs would get all of his salary off their cap and owe him 18.3M over 3 years and the other team would pay 12.2M for 3 years which equals the rest of his contract.
Hey DGP,were the Spurs OVER the tax threshold last year, or were they able to get barely under it? Just wondering if they will be able to bid on amnestied players at all.
all that does is allows the players the option to choose between a slightly higher salary or going to play where they want to...You're getting excited and misunderstanding what it means...they are not forcing the cut players to play where they don't want to only allowing other teams to throw more money at them if they wish...ultimately they'll choose LA the preferred destination. You guys are intellectual dumb s....geez...

so did DA tell you this? If not, I call bull ...
The Spurs were not LT payers last year, which is why many argued the RJ contract was smart. Without restructuring that, they would have paid tax last year. However, from my understanding of the new CBA so far, since this year the Spurs are over the LT, they would not be able to bid (*Keep in mind I have not read anything official on this bidding system yet and the rules on that).
If they use it on RJ, at that point they would likely be able to bid (likely up to an amount that gets them to no more than 4M over the LT line if it's in line with the MLE rules and such)
Don't think that is accurate at all. The only way I see that happening (meaning the players get to choose) is if the clear waivers without a bid. If it's a decent player, they will likely get claimed. It's how waivers work.
you don't get to choose where you play when you are claimed off waivers, welcher. Who's the intellectual dumb now?
I want BDiddy in LA... Fish/BDiddy against the quick guards in the league is an absolute mismatch...
Dunc, easin' on down into the do-do.
You look pisser.
& yet another hint that DoK was grossly mistaken when he said the players would rule the owners in the new CBA.
Just shows ta go ya.
In order for LA to get any amnesty player, they will have to clear waivers completely. Baron may very well be one of those guys.
Hey Cull, remember when you panicked about The Cliff and I told you that you were wrong and you were? I do.

14. Amnesty
Each team permitted to waive 1 player prior to any season of the CBA (only for contracts in place at the inception of the CBA) and have 100% of the player’s salary removed from team salary for Cap and Tax purposes.
Salary of amnestied players included for purposes of calculating players’ agreed-upon share of BRI.
A modified waiver process will be utilized for players waived pursuant to the Amnesty rule, under which teams with Room under the Cap can submit competing offers to assume some but not all of the player’s remaining contract. If a player’s contract is claimed in this manner, the remaining portion of the player’s salary will continue to be paid by the team that waived him.
& then you came by today and panicked on my behalf.

Also no more trading a player, seeing him get waived by new team, and then returning to old team as free agent (ala Brent Barry to SA or McDyess to Pistons).

Waiting period for trading team to re-sign traded player who is waived by recipient team is extended until the earlier of (i) one year from the date of the trade, or (ii) the July 1 following the last season of player’s contract.
lol Koolaids not understanding the concept of clearing waivers
Or Cully understanding the concept of anything basketball related.
Come ta Pappy.
Are you going to stick around posting when B-dog is gone and mock his friendship or will you be a man of principle and leave with him since he was done a great deal of dirt?
