Weren't there rumors of Hamels to Toronto earlier in the year?
With Cole Hammels willing to play out the rest of the season and enter the free agency market at seasons end, he becomes perhaps the best rental available.
Could Hammels be enough to propel both MultiRanger over their World Series chokage and MultiSciosias Angels over Sciocas incompetence?
I say yes he could propel the Angels beyond Sciosa.
Rangers, i dunno if they can ever win a World Series but he would most def help.
Other teams? I certainly hope he doesn't go to the Skunkies.
Discuss.

He want's anywhere and up to 130 mil a year? Has he stated where he'd like to play? Stay in the NL? Venture into the AL? I haven't really been paying attention. He'd bolster either the Rangers' or Angels' staff by far. I would have him as our 2nd-3rd starter or have him as our 2nd and have Wilson as the 4th or rotate him to prevent too many Lefties with him and wilson on consecutive days. That is, if the pieces were there. It'll be interesting to see if the usual suspects of big money spending, Yankees and Red Sox, don't come inquiring with the Phils. That keeps Hamels out of the hands of an NL team (specifically a NL East rival) and it acknowledges that the Yanks and Red Sox will again spend in hopes it brings them closer to the le.

I still see the Doyers going after him, but I don't know if this is as important a move as getting another bat, say, a David Wright or something. Their pitching, though, has sucked of late outside of Kershaw and Capuano to a point.
Dodgers new ownership said to be more then willing to enter the fray.
Hammels is the most sought after rental/rental+ in years.
For the Dodgers it's not a rental, as I expect them to be one of the top two destinations Hamels chooses from for his next team.
So it makes sense to wait, but also makes sense to give him the sneak peak, secure him, and woo him with the romance of a playoff run.
ESPNs infamous *Sources* now saying Philly is preparing a fat extension offer.
Is this gonna be a bunch of drama for nothing?
http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/18/co...-phillies-mlb/The Phillies are sending signals that they are planning to make an initial offer to star lefthanded pitcher Cole Hamels for about $130 million over six years within the next few days.
Hamels isn't going anywhere. The Phillies are getting healthy which is why they have turned things around. Hamels won't even be a FA. The Phillies are going to be the hottest team in baseball the rest of the season.
That depends on whether the team can manage to stay healthy. I don't know if they'll be the hottest for the remainder of the season and I don't see them catching the Nationals for first in the East (depending on the whole Strasburg b.s.). They may make it as one of the Wildcards, but that isn't a certain thing with them being 10 games below .500 going into the game today. But the NL isn't as frontloaded as the AL is so stranger things have happened.
