Stern, 70, has been NBA commissioner since 1984 and is the longest-tenured in his position in the four major American professional sports.

David Stern about to address media on NBATV following owners meeting. @ESPNSteinLine reporting he will step down Feb. 1, 2014.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Sources say Adam Silver's elevation to NBA commissioner replacing Stern in 2014 was unanimously approved today by NBA Board of Governors
Check the Spur Fpoon...there is no nb4ace3g.
Silver has shown he's basically Stern lite, but perhaps he will change when overlord Stern isn't standing over him. Not going to hold my breath though.
Silver will have to get use to being booed at the draft
Anyone's better than that game-rigging asshole troll Stern, tbh.....
as Booger would say, about ing time.
though i wonder if LA is going to have a funeral march or a day of mourning, maybe set a pyre of Mike Bibby's nose on fire.
i hope the new Jew isn't as bad as the old Jew.
We run everything.
So what
His replacement will be like him.............
Son of Stern.........
His retirement is just like the 2002 WCF. Planned way ahead.
so who's gonna succeed him when he steps down? teddy long?
Personally I will miss the guy like a fat kid misses burgers and fries and pizza and soda and cotton candy...
Stern's accomplishments:
- Sold the NBA to white America from a marketing perspective....he helped brothas get paid and for that I'm grateful....
- Expanded the game globally and started an NBA out-reach program to inner city and disadvantaged youth (NBA Cares Program)
- Recognized that Artest deserved a 2nd chance after the brawl
- Gave Kobe only a 1 game suspension for breaking Manu's nose
- Told Sports Illustrated during the height of the Shaq-Kobe era in L.A that his ideal Finals matchup would be. "The Lakers versus the Lakers --> http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...#ixzz2APqnPiRI
- Said his all time fave 5 if he had to build a team would be:
Magic
MJ
Bird
Shaq
Kobe
For that David Stern will always be the best....
1 more thing...
for a while Stern made sure the refs knew that Kobe was his Golden Boy...
He also gave us Basketball Reasons. That was a great day. Helped out the Lakers and Pelicans in the end. Poor Rockets![]()
he also paved the way for Kobe to leave the Hornets for the Lakers on draft day....if not for that single act of Kindness...the New Orleans would not exist as a franchise because Kobe would kept Charlotte on the Map...
He also only charged Kobe 100 grand for calling one of his refs a got on national TV...Kobe contested the fine and Stern reduced it to only 50k...
Stern is a kind man
Its possible, but Kobe never wanted to play in Charlotte. He demanded a trade to the Lakers. If he stays, maybe Charlotte builds a new arena.
