Kobe Bryant has been playing through the bone spur in his left foot for years, all without publicizing the injury or its challenges.
Bryant could have surgery in the offseason to remove the bone spur, but he never did have surgery on the mangled right pinky finger in 2008 or the arthritic right index finger in 2010.
"The thing I'm most proud of is being able to play for so many years and still be playing at a very, very high level," Bryant said. "That's the thing that I'm most proud of."
Bryant tweaked the bone spur in Thursday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Here's a song as a tribute to Kobe:

Funny how when his fan base starts to become critical of the fact that he is not playing defense or finally realize he is a ball hogger or that they may not make the playoffs that it comes to light that he has been courageously battling a broken hand, broken foot, burst appendix, lung cancer or some other horrible ailment. Thank goodness those trips to Germany to visit those former East German performance enhancement doctors are so revitalizing and helpful. Only one who could endure as much pain as Kirby could be worthy of such treatments...
"I'm proud of my injuries and failing body. I'm proud that being injured will bolster my legacy because it will shift blame for this abortion of a season onto my teammates, because I am Kobe Bryant and blaming teammates is what I do best."
Kobe would have played with HIV if needed. Kobe > Magic.
Magic would've if he'd a just stopped and thought it over for 2 in' seconds. Christ, where the was the fire?
He's hunting JabbarPERIOD And he's doing it in anger, like everything he's done since the rape.
He's a true inspiration, fighting through injuries all these years...he could've bailed on his team like Manu has for 5 years now, but he played through the pain.
Now it makes more sense Shaq and Gasol had to carry him to the finish line...
And I guess the bone spurs were particularly bad in Game 7 (6-24) of the Finals against Boston?
It also says a lot about the Spurs tbh, continuously getting torched by a guy with multiple injuries.

Though it didn't stop him from the two suicide drives into the front of the rim in the 4th quarter.
tee, hee.
Kobe: 5
Daddy: 4
"I don't forget anything."
Hunted that down, didn't he?
tee, hee.
I thought Phil Jackson only had hip surgery?
They flared off in his prime, when he couldn't save some 'torching' to beat the D'Antoni Suns, tbh
