Shouldn't we look to get rid of one of our unused backup point guards (Patty,De Colo or Joseph) if we're going to trade for a backup point guard? Neal's a shooting guard, and his salary is quite low for someone of his talents.
If Bayne is who we think he is, our bigman rotation has everything it needs.
Now hear me out: we need a veteran point guard, someone who can confidently handle the rock, distribute AND score.
Neal + Bonner for JJ berea works.
stop your bellyachin. we once brought in Robert Horry of all people.
Minny is currently surviving with 10 day contract kinda guys. a proven floor spacing bigman could be just what they need. they get rid of their logjam at PG with Rubio Ridnour and Berea. They also recieve a proven scorer in Neal, and possibly a 1st round pick for their troubles. Spurs get a veteran ballhandler who can step up when Ginobili is injured AND succesfully play WITH Ginobili, as well as distribute when needed.
the key is Bonner playing well in these little showcasing stints that we give him. and if anyone can look like a legitimate bigman for a few good games in a row (before disappearing off of the face of the planet) Bonner can. a couple more 19/7, 15/5 type games and he'll be having an excellent time making sandwiches for the great people of minneapolis. If Bonner ever wants to do anything to help this franchise... now is his time. step up for a month, be enticing enough to fool Minny into pulling the trigger and we'll mail him a faux championship ring in the fall.
yes Derrick Williams would be better but that just aint happenin.

we have no need for Neals talents when Ginobili is healthy. and if Ginobili isnt healthy then we arent going to win the championship regardless. what we need is a PROVEN point guard who can CONSISTENTLY handle the point guard duties and be a positive force for the bench. as far as im concerned NDC can finish the year out in Austin and Mills can play third string point guard/2guard when Manu is missin since that is the role he thrives at anyway.
I like lil JJ but not for Neal. Ginobili gets hurt to much an Green can shoot for . Neal is well needed. Now CJ, Mills(I love his harassing defense though), Bonner can go. I rather Blair go before Bonner though. But I see your point with JJ. The offense wouldnt miss a beat with Parker out or on the bench.
JJ would be nice to have, a bit small but he's a big time scorer. I remember him making wild shots to beat OKC earlier this season, including a 3 where he was way beyond the arc.
I like this trade, better than the normal garbage that people put out on here. Neal fills a need for the Twolves at 2 guard, my only issue is that Minny don't need a floor spacing 4, they have Love.
I'd like the trade. Only issue from Spurs end is whether we value our cap space this summer highly enough to not want Bareas contract.
JJ Barea...mmmm....i like him. We know he can play under preassure.
I'm all for trading Neal, and Bonner would be closer to Canada. Why not.
Plus Minny could always use more white people.
Bonner GTFO
Neal - keep him.
what a train of thought... darn impressive
Tim Duncan sitting out another game under CIA Pop's guise of a "Sore knee"
Just another chance for Mattkeem Bonlajuwon to put up another 17/7 performance to inflate his trade value. Book it!!
Who is Bayne?
Aron Baynelajuwon.
bump..... garbage idea get rid of cj or decolo before neal... well need his ponts wen chokers uh uhem "danny green" and leonard bonner diaw hide in their hermit s s come playoff time
Leonard was the best Spur not named Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, or Jackson last playoffs.
