We are a very privileged people, Americans. We get to enjoy the many blessings of freedom, thanks be to God. I don't think that many Americans really, truly understand how great our freedom is.
Stop and reflect today on how great it is to be able to experience the freedom that we have, and all the rights and privileges that are available to us because of the men and women who have died to purchase our freedom.
Isn't freedom great?
There is, however, a freedom which not many people have experienced or will experience.

Back in the day...it was tougher to edit your posts.
Since I've lived in SA I've always been amazed at how they celebrate holidays here. One of the best things about SA. Hands down. I just hope my house doesn't burn down.

I wasn't so lucky!
I got busted by both the SAPD and Fire Marshall.
Earlier I purchased my son an $11.00 kiddies firework package.
I then puchased myself a $75.00 package of "Heavy Artillary", it's the package that comes with 48-shots of fireballs that explose high into the air with a nice display of blasts. Well, anyhow...as I got to my 16th shot...I saw the bright blue/red lights from SAPD.
This is how it went.
me: [Approched the SAPD car as it parked in front of my house] and
said, "...You got me!..."
cop: [Smiling] and said, "...Yeah, we got you..."
cop: "Unfortunately if it was up to me, I wouldn't do anything, but I do have
the fire marshal here with me."
me: [with my eyebrows arched and eyeballs buldging out] saying, "..oh.."
fire marshal: [Exits the car and approaches me] and says, "...Yeah, you can either pay the $2000.00 fine or confiscate all of your fireworks".
cop: "Yeah, it's one or the other"
me: "Well gee, let me think about that one".
cop: laughs
fire marshal: "Yeah, I really hate to do this but, it's my job"
me: "I understand, you're only doing your job"
fire marshal: "Go ahead and just gather all of your works into the box and I'll be taking these with me"
me: [unfortunately, I surrrendered my fireworks to him]
fire marshal: "I'll let you stay with the sparklers and hand poppers, but your son has to pop them in the backyard, but the rest have to come with me".
me: "ok".
fire marshal: "Here's your warning notice"
So there you have it folks...I got busted and learned a valuable lesson. I just never thought I'd get caught. I'm guessing someone called the police to report me...oh well. The worse thing about that is that I got caught with lots of nearby neighbors watching me pop my fireworks. I guess they all enjoyed the short show I've displayed for them...I mean it was rather fun while it lasted. Most of the people were actually watching the firework's show that was going on at Sea World right out of their front yard. You see, I love VERY close to Sea World. I live in the Sierra Springs Subdivision near HW 151 and Potranco...Many people were popping fireworks on my area, but I was the one setting off the huge fireworks and that must've attracted the police and fire marshal the most. I guess I went overboard with what I've purchased.
Oh well.
The best damn $86.00 I've ever spent...which was to only be spoiled by the fire marshal!
