...just who is this Ahmadi-Nejad and why should we care what he says?

We want art that is on the offensive. Art on the offensive exalts and defends the noble principles, and attacks principles that are corrupt, vulgar, ungodly, and inhuman.

Art reaches perfection when it portrays the best life and best death. After all, art tells you how to live. That is the essence of art. Is there art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of martyrdom? A nation with martyrdom knows no captivity. Those who wish to undermine this principle undermine the foundations of our independence and national security. They undermine the foundation of our eternity.

The message of the (Islamic) Revolution is global, and is not restricted to a specific place or time. It is a human message, and it will move forward.

Have no doubt... Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world.

It's difficult to comment given only the information you have provided but here goes, without googling...

Sounds to me like he could be a leader in the Militant Muslim movement. Who he is and what he says matters if he doesn't consider himself militant and if he actually is prominent. respected and viewed as fundamentalist/main-line in the Islamist community. It sounds to me like a call for Jihad without actually using the word Jihad.

Al Queda is no longer a specific group but a way of thinking. I don't think Osama is behind quite a bit of the crap that is going on right now including the terrorism in London. Again I don't know this but it seems that there are many "factions" or "satellite" terrorist groups who really don't have connections to Al Queda or Osama but do believe in the Jihad against America.

But again there are far more believers of Islam that know terrorism is wrong.

All depends on what you assume his definition of the word "martyr" is.

Say we re-write the passage as follows... how is it different than any other political rhetoric?

    ------------

We want art that is on the offensive. Art on the offensive exalts and defends the noble principles, and attacks principles that are corrupt, vulgar, ungodly, and inhuman.

Art reaches perfection when it portrays the best life and best death. After all, art tells you how to live. That is the essence of art. Is there art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of sacrifice in order to further a cause? A nation that will sacrifice for the cause knows no captivity. Those who wish to undermine this principle undermine the foundations of our independence and national security. They undermine the foundation of our eternity.

The message of the Revolution is global, and is not restricted to a specific place or time. It is a human message, and it will move forward.

Who do I have the feeling that if Dobson or some other Christian fundy with the President's ear had said the same thing about Christianity, TRO wouldn't be raising a huff about this? Can you say metaphor?

The outline of the Christian gospel (the 4 gospels concerning the ministry of jesus, along with the rest of the new testament) only allows conversion by act of the holy spirit. Salvation is only accomplished by the HS and faith. No sword is needed. Christ, and his disciples never commanded to draw the sword to convert (even though there has been such forced conversions ala "the spanish inquisition" and other man made decrees). Becoming saved is all by faith and not through works. works is only evidence of faith. THerefore any "fundy" making such statement means we will conquer the world through the Gospel and not by taking the sword and plundering all who disbelieve. As far as Bin laden is concerened... I'd worry about his statements and not some bling bling TV evangelist.

They would be as wrong as this nit wit.

You seriously doubt that the end goal of Islamo-fascism is to establish a global caliphate based entirely on the Qu'ran and Sharia law? You don't pay attention.

Is it really any different from the numerous Americans who feel compelled to proclaim that our nation is based on Christianity and the abandoment of Christian morals is a bane to our society? And is it that suprising that Muslims would want the rest of the world to be Muslim and live under Muslim law? Isn't that what Christians want, to save the world through their message and have every living person on the planet proclaim the glory of Jesus Christ?

There are obvious differences in the way some Muslims choose to advance their message - through violence - and it resembles the Christian methods of time past.

The message that should be pushed out of this is not that leaders who choose to push an extremist Muslim ideology are bad for global society (which they are) - but that any leaders pushing any extremist ideology are bad for global society, and that includes Christianity. Sadly, there is a growing contingent of Americans who want to see our country turned into the United States of Jesus Christ. I have no problems with people choosing to be Christian, but I do have a problem with their opinion that being in the majority gives them the right to christen (pardon the pun) the nation as one in Christ.

As easily as we denounce nations who base their government around Islam (which is the majority in that nation), we should denouce our own desire to base our government around Christianity. We were founded a secular nation, and only through the grace of the people will we be able to remain one. The day we lose hold of our secular roots, is the day you can mark the peak of our civilization as we head on the downward trend.

Yeah, we all saw how well the plan for a fundamentalist Islamic nation was working in Afghanistan. Arabs aren't stupid; they in large numbers rejected the message of hate and non-secularism being put out by Islamic-fascists. It was Gulf War 1 and Bin Laden new call for war, turning his attention to Saudi Arabia after his offer to protect the kingdom was rejected by King Abullah, which started the rejuvenation of Islamic militancy and Al-Queda type groups in the Middle East.
