We will know on Friday morning GMT whether Scotland remains part of the UK or not, which will have a major impact on both Scotland and England in multiple ways.

    Your opinions?

Personally, I see no way how in the long term Scotland being independent would work out positively for them. All major companies currently in Scotland will move down to England, leaving many Scottish people angry and without jobs. Scottish nationalists believe they will keep the pound, but that seems to me like an extremely unlikely occurrence. Scotland will receive no navy/army aid from England or the USA which will leave them in a weak position to protect themselves from looming terrorist threats.

The majority of Scottish residents who are voting for independence are youths who are doing it because it is an 'extreme' or radical change, but not thinking about the future implications.

One positive of independence would be that David Cameron would be embarrassed and would most likely resign, which is great

I read it's really about Scotland grabbing more oil revenues, which peaked 15 years ago.

Scotland would lose more than David Cameron, plus they will put what would be the eventual RGB at risk. Scots need to say no to the referendum. Alex Salmond is just spewing a whole load of ' e'.

So 97% of eligible voters have registered? I think YES is going to win pretty solidly.

Obviously, like dumb Texas secessionists, Scots wanting to secede from the UK is an emotional point (pride!), not rational, not informed.

An independent Scotland, if England REALLY pulls out (like the City's bailout of corrupt, bankrupt Royal Bank of Scotland), would be a disaster for Scotland, but they would have their ignorant pride and rampant substance abuse to comfort themselves.

They made it so that 16 year olds could vote. That seems a bit like rigging.

Figured boutons would be all for Scotland since they're trying to create a social democratic state there tbh.

GB members are already social democratic states.

Scotland wants MORE oil money, while it lasts, and I guess rent charged to England for all the English facilities, bases, like nuclear sub, located in Scotland.

Considering 97% of eligible people for voting have voted, that suggests to me that it's happening. People of Scotland wouldn't bother voting if they knew that the majority wanted no.

Just as many NO voters could be as motivated (scared) as the YES voters (confused).

0.07: Alex Salmond avoids an appearance at Aberdeenshire count

Alex Salmond was expected to visit the Aberdeenshire count in the early hours of the morning, to hear the declaration for the area that includes his own cons uency.

However, a spokesman has confirmed that he now plans to stay at home in Strichen overnight before travelling to Edinburgh later on Friday.

The move has prompted speculation at the count, in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, that things may not be going as well as he had hoped.
