Yay, we'll have Clinton-Gore style Democrat bags running the state into the ground in 10 years instead of bible thumping Republican bags running the state into the ground like now.
Went to a Democratic event over the weekend.
It is interesting seeing the Democratic party, long moribund, start building itself up again.
Simple demographics will give the state consistently to the Dems in about 10 years, but this movement will probably accelerate that somewhat.
Talked to a fellow from the Davis campaign about the ins and outs and whys and wherefores of the campaign. He was, of course, optimistic, and pointed out some interesting things about their strategy of pushing voter turnout.
I don't estimate that Davis will win, given her polling is enough behind, but we will see. I will have to start paying attention to the polls.
A bit of additional info on this:

"give the state consistently to the Dems in about 10 years"
Depends on whether the Hispanics and blacks turn out to vote, and whether Repug gerrymandering can be overcome.
Professorial overview of TX re-districting

Texas Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott said that Battleground Texas represented a greater threat than North Korea, calling Texas the "last line of defense" against a Democratic presidential victory.

Needed to win Presidency: 270 electoral college votes.
Texas = 38
New York = 29
California = 55
38+29+55= 122
122/270 = .45185185...
45% of all the votes needed to win the presidency.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elector...United_States)
Need just 148 more out of 538. 538-122= 416 left to pick. 148/416= .35, or 35%
Win three states and 35% of the remainder, and you have a president.
GOP is facing losing relevance for a generation.
I really wonder how the tea party will react to getting ruthlessly crushed or cast aside by a Republican party that actually wants to win elections.
Talk at the table indicated some think that the GOP will do this, I have my doubts. I think talk radio has sealed the fate of the GOP, and the all to human propensity to live in an information bubble will do the rest. I am really not sure the GOP will be able to recover being taken over by the tea party wing.
Translation: Brown people will vote for Dems by default.
Good thing the Dems don't take that voting block for granted.
Yes, they will, because the Republican party s on them at every turn.
Your posts consistently show why this is the case, with the rampant disdainful tone you take any time people of color are mentioned.
What I call the Republican "war on the poor" comes from words where any time someone who is poor (always referring to "brown people" of one sort or another) is mentioned, they are that way because of some personal failing. "just don't work hard enough".
The tone-deaf message that people like you beat on, day after day, year after year, and you are somehow shocked that these people are ungratefully voting for the party you don't like?

Do we?
Do we really?
When I actually go to a meetings with real Democrats, I don't think the energized hispanic candidates I saw felt "taken for granted". They were there representing their community in a way the GOP doesn't. I felt very comfortable with that.
I don't see it as taken for granted so much as given a voice.
Yes, I'm sure you share so many core beliefs with those Catholics. They have economic needs and the Dems buy their votes.

lol nominating abortion barbie
pretty much this. i guess the strategy is to overrun the state with illegals like California, then when it becomes a bankrupt hole blame it on capitalism or something.
i thought she was a good looking then i saw this older pic....
looks more like a baby murderer in dis one....
I still need to get confirmation that she in fact divorced her husband after he helped her pay off her student loans. Cause then i'd not vote for her on principle
never heard that, but if true that's very ed up and would piss me off more than her love of abortion. i generally don't get too caught up in pro life/choice debates anyways.
Then why does her support of abortion piss you off? BTW - supporting a woman's right to have an abortion does not mean you love abortion.
her love of abortion doesn't really piss me off, i'm more pro life but ultimately don't like telling women they can't stick Hoovers in their pussies. Trainwreck's story about screwing over her husband pisses me off moreso.
So you lied when you said "...but if true that's very ed up and would piss me off more than her love of abortion."
Do you honestly believe she loves abortion? Does she celebrate abortion? I see you playing the old, I don't really give a one way or the other card, but let's be honest, you're obviously pretty emotional about the topic which is why you insist on framing it as a "love for abortion" as opposed to simply stating her position which is to support a woman's right to choose to terminate a pregnancy.
what's with you and the emotional card?
i'm not that big on this debate. I figured a phrase like "love of abortion" would get partisan types like yourself upset or "emotional". I think about abortion as much as gay marriage, which is very rarely. Trainwreck's story, if true, disgusts me more like I said above.
Ahh. The I was just trolling schtick. I was just asking for you to clarify your own statements.
But, while we're on the subject, if your SO (assuming she's female) approached you and told you she was pregnant but was not ready or interested in having the baby and planned to abort it, what do you say HI-FI? So whatcha gonna do?
i think the real texas rednecks and 10th generation tejanos would start up a 2nd texas war for independence before texas ever goes blue.
uppercut her to the gut maybe?
i don't know. we wouldn't stay together that long if she's nonchalant about it. I imagine the relationship would not work out long term unless I became a total cuck.
Who said she was nonchalant about it? Say she put some real though into it. She decided she was not emotionally/financially ready to have a child. Whatcha gonna do?
why are you asking him if he'd be a cuck to a degenerate woman? based on your postings we should be asking you what you'd do.
"....bad boys...bad boys"
this is starting to get weird from the emotional types.
No Cuck. It's his baby. He put his little HI_FI chipshot on her egg and fertilized a baby. She discovered she was pregnant and decided she wasn't ready to have a child and was going to abort the fetus. I was simply asking how he'd respond. He doesn't seem to be able to form a coherent response.
