Well, in two days- four years have passed since that horrible day. I found this slideshow online and thought it would be fitting to post here as a remembrance.

    What a day.

What were you doing that morning?

I was working at the SAPD dispatchers office that morning. I didn't do much work that day. I wanted to watch TV all day in the break room. I was in there a lot that day. I didn't go to class (@ UTSA) that night. Every other school canceled class that day except UTSA. Booo

The National Geographic Chanel I believe had a great special on that about 2 weeks ago. I mean a really detailed account from the planning to the actual attack themselves with plenty of background of all the hijackers and some emotional interviews from people who escaped the towers. It was rough to watch.

I was just getting off after working a night shift, and my mom told me that something happened in New York. I turned on the T.V. and about 10 seconds later the 2nd plane hit. Didn't move from the T.V. for about 12 hours.

You know, one thing that bothers me to this day is that I was drunk off of my ass the morning that happened. My roommate woke me up to tell me what was happening and I was puking trying to watch the news. If anything, putting something like that into perspective will sober you up quick. I stil feel horrible when I think about it.

In two days, 27 years ago someone very special to me was born.

In two days, 4 years ago, I was sitting in the dentist's chair getting a tooth fixed, listening to radio coverage of a plane that ran into one of the WTC towers. Assuming it was someone's personal plane, my dentist and I proceeded to make tasteless jokes about someone being pissed at their investment banker for losing all of his money in the crappy economy of the time, and crashed his plane into his office.

Not long after the coverage turned into the second plane, my dentist & I realized that we were both going to .

Has it really been 4 years already?

I was smoking a joint with my friend waiting to go to class when we heard about the first plane hitting. We skipped class the rest of the day and just burned j after j watching the coverage. Crazy man. That was crazy .

I went to a Catholic grade school. I was in the 6th grade, and we just got out of church and sat down and started learning stuff. Then someone got on the PA and told us that a plane hit the WTC. Then the whole school said a prayer for the people. I remember sitting there trying to think of what the heck the WTC was. The teacher was in shock, while we were confused at the time. Then we turned on the tv and watched what was going on. I didn't see the second plane hit, or the towers come down. Some of the teachers still made us learn stuff, although learning was the last thing on our mind.

My neighbor called me from work. He asked if my husband was still in DC at the Pentagon. I said yes. Then he told me what happened. I told him if he was joking I would kill him. It took my husband several hours to get through to me. Luckily their meeting that day was offsite at a hotel and not at the Pentagon. He was smart enough not to turn back in his rental car, so when they cancelled all air travel he just drove the rental all the way back to San Antonio. It took 3 days but at least he got home. I was never so scared in my life as those couple of hours before I heard from him. Not knowing if he was in the Pentagon or not. I never want to feel that way again.

I was at work, working on the Spurs media guide. The owner gave people the option to go home, but I still had a lot of work to do and a really tight deadline, so I stayed there and worked for most of the day. Then I went home and baked chocolate chip cookies. Just seemed like the thing to do.

This is gonna make me sound like a total ditz...

I was driving to my office (late as usual) in Washington DC. It was a beautiful morning, I was in a great mood and I only wanted to rock out, so was blasting my stereo. I wasn't interested in the news of the day and as each station interrupted with "breaking news" I just changed it to another station. I was changing the stations constantly to get away from the news. I did hear snippets about a plane crash, then possible terrorist attacks (I rolled my eyes at that since I think reporters can be so melodramatic) but kept changing the station because I just was not in the mood for news, especially exaggerated media hysteria. As I got closer to downtown, I thought "wow, lots of police cars and FBI and secret service are out today. hmmm.". Then several roadblocks went up for "no apparent reason", which totally pissed me off. Finally, I noticed that every car but mine was leaving the city. It was mass exodus. So I stopped changing the station and finally listened to the news. By now reporters were freaking out and crying. I learned the Pentagon had just been hit and I was within a mile. With the music no longer blaring, I could finally hear my phone. It was my sister calling to check on me. It was her 11th call to me in 30 minutes, but I couldn't hear the phone over my radio.

I went to the office anyway, but it was a skeleton crew. The dozen of us that were there did nothing but watch events unfold on television. It was surreal.

I was sitting in my car waiting to go to class @ UTSA listening to the radio. I must've sat there for at least an hour listening to all of it. Skipped my first class but decided to go second class, Politics. I remember seeing television sets set up in hallways with crowds of students around them all staring in disbelief. In my Politics class all we did was talk about it and speculate what would happen. When I got home I think I watched the news coverage all day long and the next day too, I just couldn't change the channel...just got glued to the TV.

I was on my way to work and my office was at St. Philips Southwest Campus across the way from Kelly AFB. I was a little bit late and when I got there I heard that there was breaking news. So instead of going inside right away (even though I was late) I listened. They said that a plane had hit the WTC but they made it seem like it was a small plane. So I went inside and told my coworkers. I was trying to find it online and I called my mom to see if she had heard anything. Across the Hall in the Deans office they were watching it and finally my supervisor pulled a tv into his office. When the second plane hit we knew it wasn't an accident. They evacuated the school and I went to my grandparents house to pick them up and then brought them home (they lived close to the base and we were worried that there might be an attack on the base). We were glued to the tv from then on. It's just one of those things you don't forget. I can't even remember what I did last week but this just stays with me.

I was reading an article in the paper a few weeks after 9/11 and they had a story about Paul Battaglia ...a young man that lost his life that day. A member of a weblogging community, he blogged until the day he was killed. I found his blog and it was just so sad to read Guest Book entries from people that were wondering where he was "YOU WEREN'T IN THERE WERE YOU?". Ugh, it just gets me! His moms posts are the worst to read. So sad. When you go to his guestbook click the link that says "first post."

I was a senior in HS and I found the principal made an annoucement over the Intercome immediately after the first plane hit...before it was verified that it was terrorism. We also thought that it was some kind of private plane that crashed into it. Then when we went to our next class...AP English I believe, my teacher turned on the TV in class and we all watched the coverage on ABC (With Peter Jennings ). Then my principal made a second announcement saying that the Mayor has requested early dismisal for all Philly Schools....which at the time I was like Yaaaaaaaaay, we get to leave at 11!

I can't believe that happened 4 years ago! I'm about to graduate from College....

I am guessing you took a look at it. I can't even imagine what these people went through that knew someone that was there that day. Just heartbreaking.

Yea, I did. I didn't read all of them, there were just way too many. It is sad when his mom says something tho. Like just the night before him and his sister were practice dancing for her sweet 16, then that next morning it happened. Then if you click "Work" under pictures. Its just...idk.

Yes, his moms posts are the most difficult. Usually during the anniversary she will write something and its still hard to read. She still writes as if he's still around.

It's crazy seeing the work pictures. I had never been to NY before much less the WTC. He had a beautiful view though before he died.

How did you find his thing? Was it in the paper or just did a google on his name? Its just kind of weird because he created it right before he was killed. And its still around today, 4 years later.

There was an article in the Local Newspaper about him. It didn't give out the web address so I googled for his name. I think his family keeps it up although there hasn't been a post in about a year. They created a Yahoo! group that I am a part of and they have a scholarship in his name for kids in NYC. It's been a while though since I've kept up with anything so I don't know what's going on w/the family now.
