Turns out people would rather pay $100 for an ounce of hybrid pot than $40 for a bag of mex reg....go figure....
Legal marijuana may be doing at least one thing that a decades-long drug war couldn't: taking a bite out of Mexican drug cartels' profits.
The latest data from the U.S. Border Patrol shows that last year, marijuana seizures along the southwest border tumbled to their lowest level in at least a decade. Agents snagged roughly 1.5 million pounds of marijuana at the border, down from a peak of nearly 4 million pounds in 2009.
The DEA has even found evidence that the flow of illegal marijuana is starting to reverse, with some cases of U.S. marijuana being smuggled into Mexico.
The cartels, of course, are adapting to the new reality. Seizure data appears to indicate that with marijuana profits tumbling, they're switching over to heroin and meth.

Even in the 70's, the Mexican rag weed didn't compare to what we grow here in Oregon.
I've smoked some good Mexican weed, but I've also smoked some that I'm pretty sure I'd get higher smoking my sock. If you can find a good dealer, the best Mexican weed you'll get your hands on isn't comparable to you can get that's grown here, in dispensaries or otherwise. I'm not a weed geek or anything, but I think it comes down to the strains rather than the quality some of the time. Good, well-grown Mexican weed (green, strong odor, red hairs) will get me really high, but not in the way that I prefer or frankly really like much at all. It tends to glue me to a couch, and not get up and do . More a depressant affect than a stimulant effect. Good American tho will give me a high where I'm more active & energetic.
Mexican weed can't with California's finest.
