LMA: 9th largest player decline in Box Plus/Minus from reg season to playoffs after merger..Flat out embarrassing..

LDN: 17th largest increase in career Box Plus/Minus from reg season to playoffs w/ min 1000 playoff mins since merger..

I said it before: DG is second most impactful Spur after Kawhi..

What's sort of fascinating is that both Danny and Kawhi are two-way players. Danny has a DBPM of 2.74 to Kawhi's 2.59 (which makes sense for those who actually watch them). Pau has a DBPM fo 3.51. Manu is at 1.31.

Then in OBPM, Kawhi has a 3.91 while Danny has a 3.02. Manu has a 3.96 and Pau has a 1.12.

    Post the chart... share!

Hard to take too much from this series as it concerns to Manu. He's been bad.
If anything, Memphis bench being flat out awful has saved his +/- and others making shots.

If anything, I hope he get some rhythm for the next series. He's got to come back up with his shooting.

LMA has been fine. The Memphis bigs are the biggest challenge on that team, and he's responded well.

I think Aldridge's numbers are strongly influenced by his time in Portland. Last year with the spurs, BPM (regular season) 1.8 BPM (playoffs) 1.8. This year BPM (regular season) 1.1, BPM (playoffs to date) -1.0 . Yes, he's not had a great series by BPM, but 2 games isn't exactly a large sample size...

Frankly... maybe Lamarcus is turning off the twitter.

dude can have a scoring explosion out of nowhere.

Maybe these games on the road he will get hot.

(maybe Manu will too.. when you have guys that have just been off, those are the most dangerous to bounce back with big games.)

His defense at the rim stands up to the eye test. Heck, his perimeter D does too thus far

This. He's our best big defending on the perimeter.

The implicit assumption is flawed because increase in performance for the playoffs is almost as bad as decrease in performance.

Look at the names on both those lists -- very few championships between them.

le teams are built on consistency not big jumps (or falloffs) between regular season and play off performance.

A player can't dramatically increase his performance in the playoffs unless his regular season performance was subpar. It's statistically impossible.

Championship teams are hard-pressed to absorb that type of inconsistency.

Not really. Obviously, in Danny's case, that may be true (especially the last two years). But you can argue that guys like him take on bigger roles in the playoffs because teams gameplan differently. Danny's increase comes in large part due to his OBPM nearly tripling in the playoffs. That's likely due to teams making it less of a priority to stop him in the playoffs compared to the regular season. Something has to give. During the 82, you want your guys to play sound D and not leave shooters open. During the post-season, you want to take away the first options and make the others beat you. Danny's just showing them that he can beat they if they lay off.
