Keep saying he needs to be traded... But since I'm the messenger, no one wants to agree publicly

Trading him to get better or worse? I would think that no team would give up their prospects or all star player for a 33 year old LMA. If we trade him then we better start tanking now because no point of finishing 8-14th in the lottery.

I'd trade him for picks at this point... Addition by subtraction, tbh... But ideally, I would want a role player that is fit for the current NBA style

Or else what's the alternative? Keep him for three more years and watch him get older and worse, but with the same "touches" mentality?

The guy literally came off the most successful season of his career in 2017 and demanded a trade because of his touches

“He sucks! He’s trash! Let’s trade him to a team for a high lottery draft pick and/or good, young players! Teams will definitely do this because he sucks!”

Do do you see the problem with your logic..

So you want to trade him for nothing then? A second round pick? A ty player? That’s even worse logic than your original idea.

No the best win move is to tank for Zion Williamson, meaning that LMA needs to go. The warriors are not going to be around forever. Maybe as soon as next year the Warriors will become beatable if KD leaves them + Klay Thompson too. Tank one year and pray that the lottery gods gift the Spurs the #1 pick like in 1997.

    Dejountey
    DeRozan
    Zion

those are great pieces to start with.

Trading him for a ty player might be the only possible outcome. No one will take LMA and give up a better player or prospect. His trade value is not that good unfortunately. Trading LMA for a two 2nd round picks might even be a reach tbh

We shouldn't trade LMA when he's the team's best rebounder and we're so short of bigs. The exception is, if we could get an R&D specialist at center. R&D = rebounding & defense. A slammer in the middle would help the team, and if he only got 10pts a game, mostly on dunks and putbacks, that should be ok. (We've got scoring elsewhere.) Offhand, I don't know of such a player being available, but maybe there's one around.

Before the season started, I wondered if KL would go to Nets after this season to possibly team with Kyrie and Jimmy Butler. Well, that isn't happening, but the Nets are still going to have 60+ million in cap space next off season. In the offseason, when teams are under the salary cap, salaries don't have to match. In a dwindling star free agent offseason for the Nets, would Sean Marks, ex Spur, take LMA off the Spurs hands? That move would open 26 million next year alone for the Spurs, LMA would still get his touches, and with Jarrett Allen in Brooklyn, LMA wouldn't have to play center.

I just don't see Pop moving him during the season. Whatever the Spurs end up being this year, they are going to ride out with what they have, and then make adjustments in the offseason. I personally think the owner, Patricia Holt, needs to tell Pop to retire gracefully after the season, regardless of record, and transition the coaching and front office personnel and players decisions. Whatever the Spurs look like in the future, Pop doesn't need to be making the decisions.

The Nets wouldn't have interest. Nobody is trading for an athletically declining, 3 adverse, C sized big to play PF, in a league where 2 big lineups are on the verge of extinction.

The teams that would have interest, are the ones who are like this one: Desperately trying to attain or remain relevancy and/or can't attract stars in free agency. Maybe: Hornets, Mavericks, Heat, Trail Blazers, Wizards . . . I'm somewhat skeptical of the first 2, but in all cases, it would be because they don't have long term answers at C and would want the Spurs to take back the mostly bloated contracts of one of their C's.

I'm confident the Trail Blazers would do Nurkic, Harkless, 1st, but that's so bad that the Spurs would feel like they might as well keep him and see if he can adapt to aging in similar fashion as Duncan and Gasol.

There were rumors this off season that Hassan Whiteside was on the trade block. He's younger than LMA too. Spurs made him look like prime Wilt Chamberlain last game they plaayed LOL
