I would love it if Fitty somehow got into the ASG while LMA and Dumbmar had to watch on TV.

20th best player in the entire league? Lol, come on. But there is no question that Patty has been the team's best and most consistent player on offensive end.

I'm more surprised that Pöltl is in the top 30 overall.
Goodness gracious, DeMar...
If Poeltl is in the top 30 the metric needs to be thrown away.
You could make up an advanced stat that takes the Sun’s gravitational pull and the time of day + 1,000 bonus Chuckee Cheese points in relation with Demar’s play and he would always be a negative player. The guy ing sucks no matter how you slice it.
But 21/6/6
His defense is atrocious but he has actually been very good on O this year, so cant complain too much about wombat this year tbh. Marco on the other hand...
although i'm questioning any stat that shows patty to be a + on defense. i'm going to attribute that to him not playing with the starters who have been godawful all year
That strong national team showing bleeding over into his NBA play
yeah. Im a huge advocate of advanced stats but these nerds man
Advanced stats are great if you understand what they do and don't tell you. FiveThirtyEight is notorious.
If Patty is the 20th best player, I would trade him straight up for #30 sight unseen.
That stat is mostly a product of the bench having a strong plus/minus -- as it has every year since ~2004. Through thick and thin, Pop has been able to put his bench in a position to be difference makers
But, yeah, Mills came into the year in great shape, he's shooting well and he's thriving in his off-the-ball role. He's been way, way better than he was at the beginning of last year. I don't think many remember but Mills was just about the worst player on the team a year ago in the first month or so.
Well maybe accept the fact that poeltl is a much better player than most give him credit for.
Patty is back on track. Hated his play the last 2 years, but FIBA Patty is an addition. And besides shooting well he's also back to making energy plays on defense. 2 of those per game and he has a much more positive value on the floor. He blocked a 3-point shot yesterday. That alone makes him a better defender than Forbes
Trade Mills. His value will never be higher.
The voice of reason.
What's that old quote about lies, damn lies, and statistics....
This is a Spurs forum. NBA forum is around the corner. Thanks.
Kidding! Because I’m sure somebody will miss the joke. Anyway, cool stuff!
Best offensive player has been DDR, easily. No question about it.
Yup, the only ones that see value in Demar's ty game are the morons that only watch box scores(Spurs redditors pretty much). Demar completely obliterates the offensive flow of the team with his ball-stopping. He brings no value on defense. Then in clutch time, he does his usual choking routine of turning it over, bricking shots or getting blocked.
This is the same Five-Thirty-Eight that rates the Spurs as the 27th best team and predicts that we go into the lottery with the 3rd worst record, sharing the 14% chance of #1 with the Knicks and the Hornets.
These are the same people who try to evaluate an individual player using plus minus....
DeRozan dead last by a good margin, just like in the playoffs last year. It'd be different if this was some outlier result but the result is the same whether it's the stat page of Basketball Reference, NBA.com, 82games, RealGM, etc... Anyone still arguing that his 20 ppg is a difference maker is living in the past.
