Lakers fans would never admit that it was a mistake to trade Shaq......

Kobe's ego is too big for another star to join that team again.

Both participants in the 2003-04 NBA Finals get a negative stamp. The Pistons become a lucky team, and the Lakers become idiots for trading O'Neal.

Paying Shaq an insane amount of money, when he clearly doesn't have much left in the tank?? Same people who think it was stupid to trade him this year, were praising that it was the right decision last year and most of this season when Shaq continued to stay out of shape and injured.

I don't think anyone doubted that trading Shaq was an immediate loss to the Lakers... but I don't think they had much choice. They couldn't develop that team paying both Kobe and Shaq the max.

The Lakers chose the "future" over the "present", but with Lebron James and other rising stars, I think that Kobe lost his chance to earn more rings (unless he takes a pay cut...)

If you go by that mentality, with the future of the NBA is all about Lebron, Wade, etc. then are you implying that the Spurs also lost their chance to earn more rings after this season?
