I am so tired of waiting when the Spurs starts to play again. Waiting who they're going to add in the 2006-07 roster. Will Nazr be traded? Or Brent? Who's going to win this yr's NBA le?

Then, I came across a local magazine article. Featuring NBA players past & present who are lefties-three of them from my favorite NBA team-Spurs and two of my favorite players in the World-David Robinson and Manu Ginobili. And Nick Van Exel plus Ex-Spur, now Dallas Mav coach AJ.

    I am a lefty.

And I collect photos of famous lefties-players, celebrities around the world from magazines for my own scrapbook about people who are left-handed. I want to know what makes them tick? Why are some them are considered special?Or I'm just thinking they are because I'm one of them. Maybe.

This article is led " Left's Just Right" by C. Tolentino. Wow

-It says there's a notion that lefties enjoy a built-in advantage in sporting endeavor is actually supported by a scientific evidence.

-then, that in the sport like basketball which involves varying reaction skills, a lefty player is looked upon as special. He does not come with frequency of a late afternoon drizzle, but when he does, he usually leaves something special on the hardcourt.

-the first batch of human beings to be labeled "freaks"(oh no), are the Southpaws.

-that the Catholic Church, centuries ago declared them as the servants of the Devil (oh no, again).

-the lefties are more accident-prone, and more susciptible to allergies in some medical literature reports.

Do you agree with all these notions?

BTW, lefties, I never imagined the NBA is full of them. From the NBA's All-Time Lord of The Ring(13 to exact), Bill Russell, to 61-pt scorer/DPOY David Robinson, Argentinian Olympic MVP/Medalist Manu, to Willis Reid, Michael Redd, Tayshaun Prince, Zach Randolf, our 2004 playoff villain Derek Fisher, Kenny Anderson, Phil Jackson, Lenny Wilkins. Avery Johnson, Chris Bosh.....

here's the rest of the list: Retired or Active NBA players southpaws

    Ah, Keon Clark.

Brings back some memories of Spurs fans getting a hard-on to the thought of him being a Spur.

Forgot Lamar Odom on that list.

I always thought he was a pretty special player. Maybe not the best, but certainly deserves some mention ... at least on that above list.

I'll have to think about this list some but Bill Russell was probably the best, because of his intensity, compe iveness, defense and basketball intelligence.

David wasn't half as intense as Russell. In fact David sometimes reminded me of the 6-yr. old T-Ball outfielder who occasionally is seen trying to catch a butterfly in the outfield instead of watching for the ball to be hit to him. But David was an athletic wonder, extremely intelligent and without a doubt, the fastest Big to ever play the game. I'd rank David as the next best lefty without thinking twice.

Some of my favorite all-time players are lefties including Nate-the-Skate and Manu.

Lenny Wilkins was a bonafide star PG while Phil was just a role, bench player.

A bit of trivia...the Rifleman was a lefty.

No, not Chuck "The Rifleman" Person. Chuck's namesake, Chuck Connors, who played (before I was born) for a couple of years with the Boston Celtics. Chuck also played a couple of years in Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Cubs, but found his niche as an actor and starred on the successful TV series "The Rifleman".

I also found this bit of trivia in one of the Chuck Connors links out there:

Connors was the first person to break an NBA backboard. He did it during warmups before the Celtics were to play Chicago. The tipoff was delayed an hour. The Celtics then went on to lose to the Chicago Stags.

Manu is currently the best lefty in the NBA.

As a lefty myself, I can't say I've been more accident prone, but I'm the stereotypical "right-brained" person, ie, more creative.

If they redrafted the teams, I'm sure that Odom and Prince would get picked ahead of Manu, former all-star or not.

So? No offense to Odom or Prince (who are fine players), but I think Manu is better.

So, I'm a homer with this as well, huh? Whatever. We'll see who ends up with more Rings at the end of their careers.

Manu is great. He can be phenomenal even. But, currently? If you base things on this past season, I don't think you can argue that Manu is the best lefty in the game right now.

Right now, even at his young age and with no playoff experience yet, I would still put Chris Bosh at or up near the top of the list of current best lefties.

Odom is up there. I have a sentimental favoritism for Jalen Rose. NVE used to be one my favorite lefties back in the day. Toni Kukoc should be considered one of the best ever as well.

Right now, I would rank them off the top of my head:

    1. Chris Bosh
    2a. Lamar Odom
    2b. Manu Ginobili
    4. Michael Redd
    5. Tayshaun Prince
    6. Cuttino Mobley
    7. Zach Randolph
    8. Jalen Rose
    9. Troy Murphy
    10. Darko Milicic
