Awesome! Pop, if you're reading this, I really think you should go out of your way to get Kato! Bonner, Barry and the rights to Ian is all it would cost the team. Find a way to get it done!

Remember when pop said they're looking for a Derrick Mckey type player, maybe they'll actually just sign Derrick Mckey

What about Barnes? Plausible as an affordable second-string SF?

Barnes is sort of like Matt Harpring with a good tan and no jumper to speak of.

The Spurs like him and look at Barnes almost every summer. Last year, he had a workout that was for about four days. I've concluded he doesn't want to come to San Antonio.

    I'm a Cato man.

We could probably grab him for 1.5-2mil/yr or less - he can bang, grab a board and block a shot. What more do we need?

Cato for one or two years is doable. I've been intrigued by Sampson, too. He can board in limited minutes and is still only 23. Sick rebounding numbers. He's averaged 5.2 in 13 and 5.3 in 14.3 minutes.

I like Cato if he has anything left - maybe our Piston friends could tell us if he does.

Sampson was on the Spurs' summer league team last year. He couldn't crack the lineup.

That pretty much signals the end of one's Spurs career.

Rasho was better than all of them stiffs. Nice move Pop.

Didn't Pop go to Slovenia and meet Rasho to get him here?

    WTF?

We know little more than Spur fans do.

He only played in 4 games for us.

He's a 9 yr player who has averaged 5 and 5 for his career, and never really landed on any team that wanted to keep him. Houston had him for quite a bit ... but then came Yao...

i love the matt barnes option i have been rooting for him all summer last year he seemed like the best option at the time and could once again be the one this year. If spurs now have to trade barry for a restricted Big. Beno as the back up PG we still need an athletic wing.

Anyone of Magloire, evans, butler or ely at Big would make my day
I think Beno is a more than capable 9mn a game back-up pop just need to show him respect and let him take his responsabilities. i can t see anyone i would want more that is available
Barnes at the wing would be fine

I checked that guy out at ESPN Insider exstatic supposedly he has at ude problems. Those numbers you mentioned are only from 33 games total over two years but he does look to have potential. ESPN Insider report going into 2005-06:
    ___________________________________________
Sampson is young and statistically has shown tremendous potential, especially as a rebounder. But his at ude and effort have been found wanting by three teams in three years, and he may be running out of chances. The Bobcats cut him halfway through the season because Bickerstaff felt he was malingering and no other takers emerged. Size-challenged Sacramento decided to take a chance on him, giving him perhaps a final shot at sticking.

Come on, Spurs. If you are going to scrape the bottom of the barrel, bring in that old hippie Scott Pollard. Bound to be a bargain.

I wouldn't mind if the Spurs didn't commit to anybody this offseason if there is nobody they really love. Next year with the powerful draft there might be some teams letting players go and better free agents and players available for trade.

We should try and sign someone, but all the more reason not to overpay or add extra years onto deals. The guys on this list aren't going to command more than $8-9M over 3 years tops, and most of them will be substantially cheaper than that.

I agree. There really isn't any reason to panic, unless the Spurs wait until the playoffs to change philosopy again.
