    Bulls Shopping Chandler?
    3rd July, 2006 - 8:33 am
Detroit News - As the Bulls continue to chase Ben Wallace, are they also shopping their own defensive bigman Tyson Chandler?

According to the Detroit News, the Bulls have been shopping Chandler around the league in hopes of getting a more offensive-minded big man, perhaps someone like Golden State's Troy Murphy or Utah's Carlos Boozer, and had their free-agent sights on a less-expensive center such as Joel Przybilla or Nazr Mohammed.

Bulls GM John Paxson started making overtures toward Wallace only after being encouraged by owner Jerry Reinsdorf. Reinsdorf has done a lot of successful business over the years with Wallace's agent, Arn Tellem, who might have pushed for the Bulls to consider Wallace

Chandler/Wallace in the same front court would be a nightmare offensively.

But nobody would be able to score on them...Chandler can play sheed'esque defense in the post at times.

In my humble opinion, Chandler is soft and doesn't play with heart. I would pass.

Why do you even care what forum it is in? I'm sure Kori will move it if she feels the need.

Idea of the day : Scola + sign and traded Mohammed for Chandler and a long small forward (Safolosha, Deng or, at least, Kryhapa).
Bulls get rid of Chandler's contract and one of too many small forwards (Deng, Nocioni, Kryhapa, Safolosha), make Nocioni happy with a teammate who give them the needed offense near the net (Scola) without giving up on rebounding (Mohammed) and no risk of go over the salary cap e/o luxury tax.
Spurs fill two big needings (second - relatively young - big in starting five; long small forward).
In case some other players could be part of the trade (see barry e/o pargo).
    What about that ?

Actually we are. From a source close to the spurs staff and usually reliable there was discussion between spurs and bulls staff about invloving nazr scola barry and chandler sweetney deng.
Now i believe this is the time of year where gm are calling each other but still it would be exagerate to claim what the spurs won't do. This sort of quotes always surprise me. We are not nostradamus or something and spurs always tries the big thing even if it seems difficult just in case of. You could bet the contacted Big ben agent even if there are 90per cent chance at less he does'nt come with us.

The Bulls are loaded at SF. I wonder if they'd do a deal just for Khryapa. He seems to be excess, and not someone they are invested in like Deng and Noccioni. His career FG% is 45.4, 34.1 from downtown, and he grabbed 4.4 boards in 21 minutes. He's 6'9". He shoots 65% FTs. Perfect Spurs long 3 material.

I don't know if they would give up Deng.

They might give him up for a Garnett, but not for a Scola. Unless Manu can callin a favor with Nocioni...and get him to get in there ears about Scola's worth.

I was thinkin of this lineup:

parker, Manu, Nocioni, Duncan and Chandler

    that would be the shiz

I say Spurs should give up everything except Horry and Finley for that lineup.

Then we would just need a backup PG....

Smells like the workings of a trade to me. If the Spurs can somehow utilize their current assets (Nazr S&T, Barry, Scola's right) to address their most pressing needs (SF, C) via a trade with Chicago, that would be great.

I'm not fond of Chandler either, but I have to admit that his performance in the playoff series versus Miami was stellar and courageous. For probably the first time in his career his showed some heart by his willingness to guard Shaq one-on-one - where he had some surprising success. His offensive game is very underdeveloped, yet his defensive prowess may be worth the risk. Also, he's quick enough to go out on the perimeter to guard a guy like Dirk.

Having said all that, the Spurs shouldn't do any deal with Chicago unless the package includes includes either Deng or Safolosha

    Not that much, after all...
The Bulls are thinking they made a mistake in giving so mouch money to Chandler...who was supposed to be their main big man also in offense.
Their best chance in the market is KG, but if Minny don't wanna trade him (imho big error for them, in case of a good Chicago offer : say T. Thomas, next first NY Choice and players, ex. Deng e/o Chandler) and they decided to sign Wallace, a Big Ben + Chandler line up would be great in defense, but orrible in offense.
A front line with four capable players like Scola, Nazr, Wallace and Sweetney gives them a lot of solutions...and (ex. see Scola + Wallace) good balance on offense.
Deng had just one good year...
    Safolosha is nba unproven.

No smiley face, so I take it you're serious.

Outside of Duncan, Manu, and Parker, there is not one player on the Spurs roster that the Chicago Bulls would want enough to trade both Nocioni and Chandler. And, that includes Nazr Mohammed since he's an unrestricted free agent that the Bulls could sign without giving up any of its players.

You are not going to get Deng or Nocioni without giving up 1 of the big 3...Khrypa might be available, but it looks like they are stockpiling talent to make a serious offer for a superstar..Safolosha is not a SF, he is the big guard they have been looking for, he isn't available...the only SF we might be able to get from the Bulls would be Khrypa & we would have to take Chandler along with him..Barry would have to be included because if the Bulls were interested in Nazr & Nazr in the Bulls, I still don't see Chicago paying Nazr $9-10 mil a year, which is what they would have to pay him to make the salaries match.

They will pay it if everyone they wanted is gone, like Pryzbilla or Wallace resigns with Detroit. I think the Bulls know if they can't get either of those guys, basically Nazr is the best available guy left and they can't pass on fufilling a need.
