I looked over all the fantasy league options and came to the conclusion that yahoo is the best possibility. Since there are no dates available to have a live draft, we'll conduct the draft in our chat room. The tentative date and time is Saturday, October 30th at 6PM. This can be changed if enough people can't make it.

Since Fantasy Basketball is so hard to keep up with, I've configured the settings so that there is minimal work that needs to be done on a weekly basis. Here are the settings:

    Code:
    Scoring Type: Head-to-Head

    Max Moves: 5

    Max Trades: 2

    Trade Reject Time: 2

Trade End Date: February 24, 2005

    Waiver Time: 2 days

Can't Cut List Provider: Yahoo! Sports

    Trade Review: Commissioner

    Post Draft Players: Free Agents

    Weekly Deadline: Weekly on Monday

    Start Scoring on: Week 1

    Roster Positions: G, G, G, G, F, F, F, F, C, C, C, BN

Stat Categories: FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO
Basically, you start 11 players (4 guards, 4 forwards and 3 centers) and you have 1 bench player. It's a weekly head-to-head league with playoffs at the end of the year. You are allowed only 5 transactions and 2 trades for the season. You can only edit your lineups on Mondays ... so you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on it everyday.

We'll have a Grand Prize for the champion at the end of the season.

To join, here is the information. There is a maximum of 20 teams, so get in before it is too late.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I guess they count trades and other transactions separately.

I am already in a league and don't want to have to keep up with two but I have a suggestion for y'alls...you are actually limiting transactions pretty dramatically for the year...I think I had 28 transactions last year...I personally don't think you should penalize your active managers like that...but it's your league...

however...Yahoo also lets you have IL positions for players that get hurt...you should really consider adding a couple of IL slots...the team actually has to have put the player on the official list for yahoo to let you park them there..it's still fair because teams don't have to play short on players when one of their major guys gets hurt...and injuties are part of the game...

Good suggestions, CC. If others agree, then we'll change it.

I would say to limit it to 25 transactions and add two IR spots.

If the regular season is ~22 weeks long, that's quite a few transactions, right?

Yeah, but some people like to shuffle their roster a lot. I probably wouldn't use more than 10 all season. But some might.

In my case I felt it was pretty effective...I managed to spot some up and comers (like Dwayne Wayde for instance) and you can also adjust your roster when trades happen...I traded Shaq for Rasheed Wallace and second tier PG/SG when he got traded to Detriot...everyone thought I was crazy but I saw it as a perfect fit for Sheed...and ended up making out like a bandit on that trade...plus the IL position create opportunities for transactions...when a major player goes out for three weeks it creates a new roster spot...you can take a flyer on a high risk/high reward player and try him out for a few weeks...then when your major player comes back you have to cut someone to make room for him...and you evaluate your roster and your category needs and cut your weakest link...

I don't know if everyone else feels the same but in my leagues i prefer different positions, example. C, C, PF, SF, F, SG, PG, G, Util, Util with only one IL position is the best. You can get way too simplified and it makes it more compe ive and more trades happan if a guy needs to sign a power forward but he's loaded in small forwards for example. One IL position makes people actually use it unlike the guys who pick up FA's just to put on there like Troy and grant hill last year.

Our league is now full with 20 teams.

If more of you want to play, just say the word here in this thread and I'll set up another league.

Regarding the league settings, you know me, make'em whatever you want, just don't change them after the draft; but, personally, I'd like to have more transactions available. I see no compelling reason to limit them - maybe my brain needs glasses.

All I really ask though, is that everyone who is taking up a roster slot work their team, even if it sucks.

    FANTASY SLACKERS SUCK!
