October was targeted to be full of surprises.
Screen Capture of Crash
Small aircraft, possibly a helicopter, has crashed into a NYC apt.
October was targeted to be full of surprises.
Way to miss the reference there clambake.
Wow, only one post in.
Even in my cynicism I didn't think it would happen that soon.
Sad times.
10-11 Got it Yoni.
Cynicism? Could be out of the Rove playbook.
Sad times, indeed.
You're sick. Seriously, I suggest counseling.
The only October Surprise we've seen thus far is the Democratic Operatives holding the Foley scandal until they thought it could do the most damage. Ooops! It seems they suffered from premature leaking. That story seems to be fading away.
No . I hope there aren't many more like you out there.
If I weren't out here, Yoni, then you would be minus the voice of reason.
Why don't you follow your leader down the toilet, instead of just being that leftover odor.
There are reports the plane belonged to NYYankee Cory Lidle. Yikes! I wonder if he was released from the team or something. Wasn't he the losing pitcher against the Tigers on Saturday?
Pitched 1 and a 1/3 innings, giving up 4 hits and three runs...
He wasn't released, he was a free agent.
Even FauxNews had the information Yonivore and didn't release it and there is NO proof that this info was held for political reasons. NONE, NADA except if you say it enough times people will believe it.
Just like Cheney, Bush and Rove convinced themselves of the WMD's in Iraq.
But it just ain't so.
So, why was it held?
I'd ask Hastert. He knew and didn't say .
What'd he know?
Here's the call:
NewdayYankees pitcher Cory Lidle reportedly was one of at least two people killed when a plane he was piloting slammed into a high-rise residential building on the Upper East Side shortly before 3 p.m., officials said.
The police department confirmed that two people were killed, and there were no immediate reports of injuries when the four-seater plane crashed into the 50-story luxury apartment building.
There is no evidence that terrorism is invovled, but officials "have been sent to the scene as a routine," said Christine Monaco, a New York spokeswoman for FBI. FAA spokesman Jim Peters said all three New York City-area airports were operating normally, but LaGuardia is reporting 30-40 minute delays.
"The initial indication is that there is a terrible accident," said Department of Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke.
Engine problems?
There was a mayday, FAA reports, from the pilot involving a problem with fuel before the aircraft crashed into the 50-story high-rise on Manhattan's East Side.

I can't believe that anyone would suggest that such an unfortunate accident had any political implications. It says way too much about the sorry state of political discourse in this nation right now that anyone would even think to make that suggestion.
With all due respect to FWDT's opinion, he was also against the Politics of Katrina thread which turned out to be one of the biggest, most important, and informative threads in this forum - ever. The point is that we never know the implications of any occurrance when it happens and gets posted here, yes, even a small plane crashing into a NYC apt. building.
For instance, many people still do not know that air force jets where scrabbled today in San Antonio and planes were trailed, after word of this accident got around. NATO had planes in the air in 5 minutes guarding our airspace.
An unfortunate accident, yes, a tragedy, but even in tragedy there is politics, it's in life and death.
I'm not saying that there isn't ever a point in time to talk about the politics of a particular situation, dan.
I was never against "The Politics of Katrina," as a concept -- I was firmly against undertaking the politics of Katrina on September 1, 2005. I was against bickering, partisan discussions of what was happening in the Gulf Coast while cities were underwater and people were subsisting in sub-human conditions at the Superdome and the Convention Center. I was against political gainsaying while we were seeing video of bloated bodies floating face-down in the floodwaters.
There's a time and place for everything. Politics undoubtedly has its place and is a matter about which information is useful. But when it devolves into partisan fingerpointing in the midst of a real, human tragedy during which people are truly suffering, it seems rather pointless. Solve the freakin' problem -- with Katrina, go volunteer at a shelter or go contribute blood -- while its ongoing; then discuss its political ramifications. My quarrel is with those who hear a starter's pistol for posting in this forum every time they learn of some national tragedy. That strikes me as unseemly.
My point is that the first 15 minutes after it happens, or while rescue and recovery efforts are on-going, it's wholly pointless to try to gain political points by using the situation to your benefit.
Doing so makes you sound uninterested in solving the immediate problem and far, far more interested in realizing some short term political gain from it. That, to me, is shortsighted, counterproductive, and ultimately, unreasonable.

I also think it shows how our readiness to react has increased dramatically as shown how quickly Fighters were scrambled and on alert.
Kudos to all who responded. Good job.
There's a difference between "The Federal Government did not do enough after Katrina" and "Plane crashes into NYC buidling? Must be Karl Rove." I think that goes without saying.
And the way I remember it, FWD's (and others', including mine) complaint about political discussions after Katrina were less about what aspects of the relief effort were subpar, and more about choosing sides. You could pretty much choose, based on party lines, whether certain posters would "side" with the Bush Administration (Republicans) or Nagin and the local/state authorities (Democrats). There seemed to be no room for discussions on shared blame. And it stunk of partisan gamesmanship.
10-11-6 turned upside down is 9-11-01. There has to be a conspiracy theory involvled here somewhere.
Too bad it would actually be 90/11/01![]()
Don't go feeling to safe about planes being deployed:

Jets Scramble After NYC Plane Crash
By ROBERT WELLER
Associated Press Writer
DENVER (AP) -- The military sent dozens of fighter jets Wednesday to patrol the skies over New York, Washington, and other U.S. and Canadian cities minutes after a small plane crashed into a New York City high-rise.
Adm. Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. Northern Command, told The Associated Press that military officials knew it was not likely a terrorist act "about a half an hour after it happened."
"This is a significant event," he later said at a news conference. "My first reaction when I saw an airplane going into a building in New York City was, "Oh no, we've got another 9/11."
.......
Keating said he ordered the fighters to be scrambled immediately after seeing information about the crash on television.
"The fact we were able to have dozens of fighters airborne in a very brief period of time ... sends a message to the terrorists that we're ready to respond."
