You miss the point completely Dan. The last 5 minutes of CSI is by far more important than the death of a s bag.![]()
ReutersLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - CBS News has fired the producer responsible for interrupting the last five minutes of a hit crime drama with a special report on the death of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, a network source said on Friday.
Word of the dismissal came a day after CBS apologized to viewers for breaking into "CSI: NY," one of its top-rated shows, on Wednesday night.
"An overly aggressive CBS News producer jumped the gun with a report that should have been offered to local stations for their late news. We sincerely regret the error," the network said in a statement on Thursday.
The network, owned by Viacom Inc., declined comment on a report of the dismissal posted on the Web site of trade publication Broadcasting & Cable.

Can't let the real world interrupt our little make-believe world after all.

God forbid they should discipline anyone that would air ficticious do ents against a sitting President.
The problem was CSI was just gonna reveal who killed Arafat!
God Forbid NBADan read more into the story.
Dan, it wasn't an announcement of Arafat's death. It was going to be a retrospective on the situation. Something that could have easily been picked up by the affiliates.
But then again, it IS sweeps.
Also, if they had just wanted to get the announcement out, then by all means, interrupt the show. I think I would have been mad if they had simply announced his death via a crawl.
