    Not so fast...

The Arab League said three Arab Gulf countries have denied Israel use of their air space to strike Iran.

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Mousa told reporters in Cairo the foreign ministers of Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates said there is no agreement allowing Israeli jets to use their air space to reach Iran.

His remarks came a day after Israel's Haaretz daily said Israel has received a green light from these three oil-rich states to pass through their air space to launch air strikes against Iran's Bushehr nuclear facility near the Arab Gulf region.

"These reports are either forged or fabricated," Mousa said, adding the foreign ministers of these countries have "officially authorized" him to relay this information.

"No Arab country could allow or give license to Israel to attack Iran," the head of the 22-member Arab League said."
Don't expect to be hearing this correction on OAI anytime soon...

Padilla abuse claim is al Qaeda tactic: U.S.
    By Jane Sutton

MIAMI (Reuters) - Former "enemy combatant" Jose Padilla is mentally capable of assisting defense lawyers at his terrorism trial but chooses not to, according to a prison psychologist who testified on Monday that Padilla is fit to stand trial.

Defense lawyers have said Padilla suffered brain injuries caused by abuse and extreme isolation during the 3 1/2 years he was held by presidential order in a U.S. military prison, before he was charged in the civilian court with aiding Islamist terrorists.

Padilla's lawyers contend the government's conduct was so outrageous that the charges against him should be dropped.

Prosecutors contend that Padilla underwent al Qaeda training and that his claims of abuse and refusal to cooperate with his lawyers are typical al Qaeda tactics.

"His behavior is consistent with those of captured al Qaeda operatives," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Frazier.
Did Frazier just admit that the U.S. tortures all suspected captured al Qauda operatives?

    Welfare queen alert...

Israel will ask the U.S. government to significantly increase its military assistance to the country as part of a new multi-year aid agreement.

A high-level Israeli economic delegation led by Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer and Finance Ministry Director General Yarom Ariav will meet with an American team in Washington this week.

The present package, which ends this year, covers $2.4 billion in annual military aid.

Israel's request comes due to the military challenges and restraints it will have to face in the upcoming years and the weakening dollar.

...The level of aid to be requested was to be set at the meeting, but Washington asked Israel last week not to ask for a specific amount at this stage, but rather present its needs in principle.

The actual numbers will be raised in negotiations in the upcoming months

Who's really paying for all those 'bunker busters' and F14's we just sold Israel again?

Why would Israel need to fly through Qatar, Oman or UAE to get to Iran? Flying over Jordan and Iraq is a more direct route anyway.

Laura Bush: Much Of Iraq Is ‘Stable,’ There’s Just ‘One Bombing A Day That Discourages Everybody’

Tonight on Larry King Live, First Lady Laura Bush said she understands “how the American people feel” when they express frustration over Iraq, but insisted that “to leave now would be a serious mistake.” She said of Iraqis, “This is their opportunity to seize the moment, to build a really good and stable country.”

As AmericaBlog first noted, Bush added, “[M]any parts of Iraq are stable now. But, of course, what we see on television is the one bombing a day that discourages everybody.”
