The Cowboys aren't exactly shopping Julius Jones, but they've told teams that have inquired about him that he's for sale for the right price. Cowboys owner-GM Jerry Jones apparently is prepared to hitch his wagon to the team's other young running back, Marion Barber.

We have one of the best two-back punches in the game and they want to trade Jones? WTF is JJ thinking? *sigh*

I'm not big on fixing what isn't exactly broken but if he doesn't do better than well this year then we need to hit the draft...

  5. #5
He had his first 1000 yard season this year splitting the carries, and had a 4.1 average. He would have had way more yards and tds had he been given the ball more, and in redzone situations. I really dont think Marion is an every down back. If this did happen the only way I would be happy is if they drafted Michael Bush from Lousville, Kenny Irons or Lorenzo Booker, and I think I would still be pissed

Yea, but I have heard this earlier last week from Dallas Morning News. And SI doesnt put up bull on their site, most of their truth and rumors page usually turns out to be true. I had heard earlier that Barber was the one that was being shopped, but apparently Jerry thinks Julius would be the one easier to replace, especially because when they drafted him he was "Bills guy".

Philly? They're making up horse to scare Boys fans. Either that JJ is buying too much into Barber's 16 Td's. He got those because Jones carried them to the goal line.

    Nah, I get you man.

I just wonder what the 'right price' is. And if Jones found a taker for JJ, would he use that pick and Dallas' first rounder to try and move up in the draft and get Peterson?

    Who knows with that er..

The word is that the Bills really want him and are offering a 3rd rounder, but I doubt Jerry would let him go for any less than a late 3rd. ANd your right, who knows with this sonofa

Julius is definitely replacable. His ability to run into lineman is unmatched... he isn't that good. If we could get a 3rd for him, I'd take it.

    I'd be fine with that..

I think Michael Bush and Kenny Irons will still be availabe when Dallas picks in the first round.

Oh for sure, Irons might be available in the 3rd, and Brandon Jackson might be there in the 4th, either of those guys would be decent. I just think that Julius best years are still in front of him, although Scotts take on him running into blockers is dead on, and he cant break a tackle to save his life

I really like Michael Bush, and he will probably be there early in the second, I would love the Boys picking him up, I really think he will be a future star

For the right price anyone can be had. That being sid it would be dumb to trade him now after Dallas just fxed the O -Line.

They won't move him not unless some team is dumb enough to give up a second.

It would be horrible just for the fact that Julius was running well as a one-two-punch combo along side Marion. Plus he had a sweet TD in New Orleans.

    Marion Barber >>>>>> Julius Jones

Personally, I really like Julius and think he will do nothing but get better. His brother didnt do much his first couple of years, and he is pretty damn good now. Marion is great and all, I just dont know how effective he would be with defenses keying on him

I hope we don't lose him, but I do prefer Marion over Julius. Julius is too injury prone and doesn't have the balls that Marion has. Marion is a freight train and Julius falls down once someone puts their hands on him. Either way I can't wait 'til August.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones quelled recent rumors on Wednesday that the team is shopping starting running back Julius Jones. Jerry Jones said he liked last year's rotation between Julius Jones and Marion Barber and hopes Tyson Thompson can return from last year's season-ending fractured tibia as a viable third option. But trading Jones, who played in all 16 regular-season games and reached 1,000 yards for the first time in his career, is not a point of interest. "I don't see that happening," Jerry Jones said. "We have got a team that's going to need some great plays from that position and I like what we've done there with (Marion) Barber. More than likely, unless we have an opportunity in the draft to do something, it's likely that we'll be going with the running back group we ended the season with."
