and?
This series represents a conflict of style and schemes. You have the tough, slow team concept of the Spurs. "Don't be in a hurry to win", versus the liberal, fun loving, high flying Suns. "Be in a hurry to win". Get up by as much as possible. Run them outta the freaking gym. I love that.
I'm a basketball fan and the Spurs make basketball boring for me.
These type of teams like to take the ball and just sit on it for the entire shot clock.. throwing it around the top of the key running the clock down and finally they throw it into Duncan.. who slogs around and finally gets a foul. (Or he stands there, head tilted with wide eyes amazed he did not get the call)
Now that's keeping your audience riveted.
Okay, I'll give some credit to Manu and Parker, their great at penetrating and getting to the basket. AI mean, what Spurs fan hasnt watched the Warriors and said, wow that looks like fun?
This slow style has lead to multiple NBA championships. No arguing that. Lately, however we've seen some things change.
Why were we so terrible in the Olympics? Teams like the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs have really ruined and slowed our game down so much so that we just could not compete with the speed, shooting and quickness of our pansy liberal friends. Why don't we just use 5 centers all game?
In the words of Nick Nolte (from Blue Chips) - It's not what you Goddammit, It's how you do it!
So now we have the high flying Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns pushing late into the playoffs. In this particular series, the Suns represent a change in basketball. A change that is knocking on the door for respect. Trying to change the leagues style to bring it back to what it should be. Or what those who run this scheme think it should be.
That's why this series is so testy. Basketball idealogy is at stake. The Spurs? They are taught that you can't win playoff basketball with the Suns style. So, late in the game after leading all game, the pansy Suns dare to come back and win? Then Robert Horry - A firm beliver in this slow, PHYSICAL style does what his system demands. Slam that little pansy point guard to the ground. This is how real basketball is played..
Or is it? The Suns hope to prove otherwise.. and so do I. Go Suns. Go Warriors. Go basketball!
Which "real" basketball calls for clotheslining Kobe? That's why this series is so testy. Basketball idealogy is at stake. The Spurs? They are taught that you can't win playoff basketball with the Suns style. So, late in the game after leading all game, the pansy Suns dare to come back and win? Good Post
Do Not Agree With Some Of It But Good Post
Your post was boring.
I'd rather be bored winning than excited losing.
Couldn't say it better myself.
"I'm a basketball fan and the Spurs make basketball boring for me"
your post =![]()
Winning championships is always exciting.
pansy liberal friends? go get bent why don't youWhy were we so terrible in the Olympics? Teams like the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs have really ruined and slowed our game down so much so that we just could not compete with the speed, shooting and quickness of our pansy liberal friends. Why don't we just use 5 centers all game?
Yeah, no one here has ever heard that before.
I'm just shocked by your revelation. Who knew?
Bottom line, sweetheart, is that what the Suns are doing is nothing new. It's not new, it's not innovative, and it's never really worked, which is why D'Antoni has been trying to work in defense for the last two years. I'm sorry that you are such a casual fan of the sport that you have not yet developed the taste for truly refined basketball. Because you are truly missing out on a lot. To be unable to appreciate stifling defensive rotations, taking players completely out of their element and beautiful footwork and maneuvers such as Duncan's recently revived bank shot - well, as I said, I pity you.
Yeah I was so bored celebrating those 3 championships.....what a drag.
Suns fans are excited about getting knocked out of the playoffs every year?
I agree with Chump. That post was intensely boring.
And just for clarification, the Spurs were not always defensive-minded team. Only in the last 10 years or so. You know, when they racked the highest wining percentage of any professional sport.
Also, you're wrong about why we lost in FIBA compe ions.... has nothing to do with what you said.
Well the post was long winded, but with you guys being Spurs fans.. I thought you'd enjoy that?
(BTW, I'm starting to dislike the Warriors.. they play dirty. I know their undersized but their making a mockery of this Utah game..)
Stupid posting by stupid person. Not very exciting at all.
Exactly.
The irony is we lost in FIBA ball because Team USA trotted out a Phoenix Suns inspired offense. Boring take by a boring poster.
BLAH BLAH BLAH i hope your team is bounced just so i can put some of your dumbass post in my SIG you jackass.
With.. uh.. no true point guard you might add.![]()
