Three more Fort Lewis soldiers die in Iraq
By Seattletimes.com staff
Three more Fort Lewis soldiers assigned to Stryker units have been killed in Iraq, the Pentagon said today. The men were identified as: • Staff Sgt. Thomas M. McFall, 36, of Glendora, Calif. • Pfc. Junior Cedeno Sanchez, 20, of Miami, Fla. • Pfc. Charles B. Hester, 23, of Cataldo, Idaho. McFall and Sanchez, who were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment Stryker team, died in Baghdad Monday from wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their position while they were outside their vehicle, the Army said. Hester, who was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, died in Baghdad Saturday of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an IED.
They also announced that Fort Lewis will no longer hold individual funeral ceremonies for fallen soldiers. They plan to hold them once a month. A mother of one dead soldier referred to that idea as " A sick kind of monthly birthday party".

Joe Leiberman was in Iraq on a vest and helmet visit and the troops on his left and right asked him "When can we leave"?
One soldier told him "All we do is drive around until we get shot".
and these guys were ridding in Strykers. The sophistication of attacks on coaliton forces (i.e. the U.S.) has gone up since the surge.
The first two soldiers were Infantrymen on foot patrol, they weren't in a Stryker when the IED went off.
Fort Lewis has already announced the combined memorial ceremony plan is being "reviewed", I'd expect it to be scrapped soon.
Cut and run bull politicizing to suit their own agenda as they support the party and movement that wants to cut troop funding aside...
That funeral plan is ed up and whoever suggested it needs a foot up their ass.
We don't have one decent leader in all of DC, from either side of the aisle. We need an old school dealmaker. Someone who can give something and restore our countries image and strength. Let the details of a deal remain secret for ten years, when it won't matter anymore.
We need to fill the currently vacant position of Secretary of State, put a muzzle on Cheney and force Bush to listen to reason.
That funeral plan HAD to have been run through the White House for approval.
