Nice. Thanks for the heads up.
so what number does he wear?
5 is taken
Yeah, he said he hasn't chosen a number yet. He said he didn't think Horry would give up #5, with seniority and all, but he would have to see what is available.
Walter Pasacreta interviewed him by phone, set up by Tom James of the Spurs. He said he got to talk with Tim and Jacque today. What impresses him about the Spurs is their professional approach. He can see how the fans love and support the team and he will have to get out and meet the fans. Walter asked if he compares himself to Bruce Bowen in his style of play. Ime said that's what he has heard for much of his pro career, he has similar strengths - defense and a good outside shot.
Ime also said he looks forward to playing with Bruce, he can come in for Bruce sometimes and provide a one-two punch. He also said he looks forward to playing with Tim, Manu and Tony..that opens up the floor for others to knock down shots.
That's all I remember for now.
Oh yeah, Ime also said that he rehabbed his knee and stayed off it for a couple of months to make sure the knee was healed before starting his workouts again. He also said that he talked with Pop every week during the off-season and Pop did impress on him the idea of the Spurs "family" atmosphere.
The podcast is available now, according to Walter.
The signing of Udoka has Pop written all over it. Udoka is the type of player Pop loves to coach. He's also the type of player Pop can make better.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pop targeted Udoka as number one on his list of reasonable acquisitions.
The interview can be downloaded from here.
thanks for the link timvp
pop needed a new player to really make into someone special.
they contacted him first day of fa
Good thing there is still one person @ St that has the ticket on 24/7 thanks Ducks!
CIA POP strikes again. They targeted this guy all along.
Sounds like a quality character. Nice interview.
Another thing I noticed: Although he doesn't demonstrate the GREATEST basketball IQ, he states what he thinks with conviction, knows what he does well and has to offer, and has confidence in the things he says.
He seems to understand that he's come a long way to be here, and he deserves this chance. Confidence translates into shooting touch. And just for once, I want to see a ing shooter flourish with the Spurs.
It's like open shots are wolfsbane to these people.
Except in the clutch. These are the got damn Spurs we're talking about here.
I'm pumped about this guy, and think timvp is right on as usual. This is a Pop guy through and through. Hopefully Udoka can bring a little extra championship hunger to the team in addition to everything else he's going to provide.
I actually think this guy will do well....
He will be here for about 5 or 6 years overall. Book it!!
